This interview with LGBA on The Mess We're In is really good.
A great watch for Lesbian Visability Week.
They are so dignified, classy, focused on their mission. A great example of cutting out the noise and getting stuff done.
Highly recommended.

I listened to it today - it was great. Such impressive intelligent and clear headed women. And so decent. I loved their "what we want is a global revolution and here's our plan" attitude. Heck, why start small!!

Also rather childishly found the bit before they joined about tattoos amusing. Nice to hear so much laughter.

That was one of the best Mess We're In episodes I remember. Really worth watching.

The mess we're in is always worth a watch. I love Helen's laugh, and seeing what change Arty has made to his home décor since last time, while Graham trips over his tongue in his eagerness to share all the latest news from clownworld.

This episode was particularly enjoyable. How comforting to realise that Bev and Kate are a couple of genuinely wise women. Reassuring too, to know that the LGB Alliance is safe in their very competent hands.

Kate and Bev make exemplary role models for anyone fighting injustice with the intent of making lasting change. I'm brimming with admiration for the superhumanly sensible way they remain focussed on the important goals, letting the slings and arrows of outrageous malice and stupidity bounce off, without distracting them in the sightest.

I fully understand why Graham is infuriated by the suffering caused by this out of control juggernaut. He sees injustice and does what he can to intervene. Brave, but easily distracted and impulsive. Which makes him an easy target for more cold bloodedly malicious types.

I'm the same, 63 years old and still I struggle to rise above provocation. It's far too easy to wind me up, and provoke me into doing and saying things that can be taken out of context and used against me. Making it all too easy to divert my attention from the important goals and fritter my energy and resources on countering irrelevant idiocies. (Sorry Bunbury, I do try!)

I wish I'd grown up to be like Bev and Kate. I wonder if they start each day with 20 minutes of zen meditation? Or doing sunrise yoga? How do they manage to stay so sublimely beneficent?

at 43:00 - "You may now speak, Graham".

Grin

Not many people manage to keep him quiet. Wine

That was good. I totally get what your saying about finding it difficult to rise above Stealhsquirrelnutkin. I’m finding it difficult today, especially after reading the responses to that Pride in London on FB post (now locked down obv) and the goady posts today on another thread.

I love Bev and Kate. I wish we could hear from them more because they have such a breadth of experience between them.

Don't forget their government petition - linked under the video.

It's reassuring to know they've been in touch with MPs and had positive feedback re the Conversion Therapy debate. They are so articulate.

This was real lesbian visibility unlike another thread on here.

Really good and positive, Bev and Kate don't waste time on silly people but instead focus on changing the world, millions for help lines for LGB kids and families, the only group representing LGB any more.

FindTheTruth I think the other one is gone, thankfully. I know sunlight is valuable and all but on Lesbian Visibility day I’d prefer the threads referring to it be about and by actual lesbians.

I'm thankful when these episodes end up in my podcast feed - must admit I don't get watching things like this on YouTube at all. The tattoo bit was absolutely bloody hilarious and Bev and Kate were superb.

Bev and Kate are so calm, reasonable and focussed, they are a masterclass in effective campaigning. What an inspiring pair! They are absolutely right about focussing their energy on the actions that will have the most impact and not wasting their energy.
