I recently read The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gowar. While googling her I saw a tweet and clicked on it, and it said the account was suspended.
Not being a great Twitter user myself, can anyone help me work out why? Presumably she said something unsayable...
It's a good book, set in 18th century London, featuring mermaids both fake and (maybe) real, courtesans, ship owners and women trying to find their place in life.

I did wonder when having a quick Google I was presented with the image of a blue-haired graduate of Archaeology, Anthropology and Art History.

Oh well done for finding that. I am a little disappointed with the TWAW parroting...
Thanks!

Shame.I was interested n the novel, but I’m not giving my money to misogynists. Amusing that her loyal, handmaidenly support of TWAW got her accidentally blocked by the gender-identity police.

Ironically on that instagram post, someone has commented "how absurd that the truth should be censored"

She seems to be opposing an open letter written by the Wild Woman Writing Club to the organisers of the Women’s Prize for fiction, who have longlisted a book by a transwoman.

I just found the letter (missed it here when it first appeared) - what a fabulous piece of writing. It's really inspiring. I fail to see how anyone cannot see the sense of it.
