Transman Prinz Chiyo Gomes splits gay community: gay man accused of hate

Prinz Chiyo is a transman who entered (and I'm told won, but can't confirm) the Mr Gay England competition last year:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-53936529

Chiyo has talked publicly about Chiyo's experience of sexual abuse from an early ago. Chiyo is also an icon among young girls who want to escape the burden of femininity and is celebrated on BBC's Newsbeat.

A gay man who tweets as Sheridan Sinclair recently wrote an article about Chiyo and why he objected to a someone who talks openly about their vagina and the fact they menstruate qualifying to compete in Mr Gay England. This has set off a Twitterstorm. Sheridan Sinclair has been forced to close his Twitter account and take down his article.

twitter.com/mrgayengland/status/1376101627959074821

Before he was shut down, Sheridan Sinclair pointed out that many gay men have spent large parts of their lives being told there's something wrong with them, that they should learn to love 'pussy', and that having Chiyo compete in Mr Gay England is homophobic.

Sheridan Sinclair has been reported to the police for hate crime and is expecting a visit from the rozzers this morning. Fair Cop, I hope he's been in touch with you.

I still can't believe police are going to turn up to Sinclair about his view or measured expression of it on a social media platform.

It'll be interesting to see how the police balance transgender and gay rights, won't it?

Chiyo hasn't gone down the gender reassignment route, so isn't covered under the EA 2010 by the protected characteristic of Gender reassignment. Sinclair is a gay man and comes under the protected characteristic of Sexuality.

In many ways (sorry Sheridan) it would be great if the police waded in and we could see this go to court.

This is the first time I've come across Prinz Chiyo Gomes. Chiyo is the walking embodiment of why so many girls want to escape femininity and all the sexual abuse that comes with it. I find it extraordinary that the BBC, the respectable, apparently thoughtful BBC, have promoted Chiyo so unquestioningly.

Sheridan's piece was heartfelt and sad.

it's utterly mad; just as the definition of women does not include men so the definition of men does not include women

Huh.
So it's* happening to gay men now, not just Lesbians.

*It meaning bullying, silencing, abuse, police action...

I always thought once the woke turned on gay men it'll be the wake up call the world needs.

It's pretty shitty of a transgayman to appropriate the struggles of actual gay men.

A transman has their own struggles of course, but being a bepenised person attracted to other bepenised people is not one of them.

This homophobic bs has been happening to lesbians who don't want to date/have sex with trans women for years. They have been called transphobic, threatened, abused and dozed for not accepting "lady dick ".
Trans women "lesbians" even run courses on how to overcome the cotton ceiling ffs.
Do we hear anything about this in mainstream media no, but 1 gay guy gets the same treatment for speaking out against the homophobic gender bs and he gets an article on the BBC.
I guess that we should be grateful that misogyny and the patriarchy still come before everyone else though I'm sure it helps that we are talking about a trans man rather than a trans women

I feel deeply sorry for Primx Chico who has clearly suffered an immense amount of trauma.

But gay men cannot be told to accept vaginas. I don't understand how people are opposed to gay conversion therapy (as they bloody well should be) but think encouraging men to accept female bodies as gay male partners isn't horrifically homophobic?

The leader of Mr Gay England said as PC was living his life as gay man, he was therefore a gay man. What does it mean to live as a gay man? You just... say you're one?

Also, it's really awful that gay men and lesbian women have to deal with such 'progressive' homophobia under the guise of 'trans inclusion'. A few years ago I would never have believed it was possible and that as a society we had (mostly) come to respect and accept same-sex attraction.

As a lesbian I'm all too ruddy aware of how transwomen have forced their way into lesbian and women's groups and often taken over. Lesbian dating apps are full of transbians.

Chiyo seems to me, a non-professional observer, to be committing a long, slow, public act of self-harm. The BBC clearly don't see this, though, just a brave and stunning transman. Not a victim of male sexual violence looking desperately for a way out.

Funny, is the pile on much worse than if this had been a transwoman proclaiming her lesbian status, or did the SuperStraight/gay/lesbian highlight some of these issues?

I'd like to think your average copper has their head in their hands when instructed to investigate such "crimes".

When are the majority of LGB folk going to realise being lumped in with T is detrimental to their hard-won rights?

I don't want to say I am glad this has happened to Sheridan because in fact I don't want this (online abuse, police accusations etc) to happen to anyone but in some way I am glad it's not just women.

Gay men are quite a powerful demographic these days in the media, politics etc. If some prominent gay men were to come out and say they agree with Sheridan that might shake up Stonewall a bit.

-A woman entered a competition designed for a marginalised group of men and won
(Like Pip Bunce and businesswoman of the year)
-A man complained about it and got a load of abuse and visits from the police
(Like Posy and lots of other brave feminists)
-A woman thinks that gay men should agree that they like 'wet ass pussy'
(Like lesbians being forced to say they like 'girl sick')

Now we just need a woman to enter a men's sport competition and win. Unfortunately due to biology that might be a bit harder.

If they did, then that would be an amazing achievement and they'd deserve it. I don't believe there's any sport women can be said to have an unfair advantage in, even if permitted to take testosterone to male levels.

Many sports do not formally have "men's" categories at all. What we perceive as "men's sports" due to the lack of women are often open.

Chiyo hasn't gone down the gender reassignment route, so isn't covered under the EA 2010 by the protected characteristic of Gender reassignment.

There is no requirement to transition in any way for a transgender person to have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. No social transition and certainly not a medical one. All a person need do to acquire protection under gender reassignment is identify as trans and communicate this in some way or form.

Which Chiyo has done. Therefore Chiyo is protected under the Equality Act 2010.

I also think it is bizarre that Chiyo writes in Tweets that TERFS hate her. I'm not sure Chiyo knows what the acronym means.
Sheridan is a gay man and in no way a TERF (I think he makes it clear too that he doesn't hate her personally just resists what she stands for)
Feminists generally are not bothered about transmen. Sad for them but happy to welcome them to women's spaces if they want to be there. She's picking the wrong people for a fight. This one (for once) we surely can't be blamed for.

It’s just all very odd. I did wonder how the ‘community’ would react to this person entering the competition.

WendyTestaburger · 30/03/2021 11:19

Yes the only reason a transman would think so called "terfs" hate them is because they have been told to believe that, or else been told that anyone who disagrees with gender ideology must hate them. In reality many feminists know that they too would have been a transman had the ideology been so prevalent in their youth.

With regards to the police and potential media involvement with this issue I will be intrigued to see how it pans out. I was really shocked that the Reading terror attack on three gay men last year received so little press interest with regards to the victim's sexuality.
