Emma Bateman, Co Chair of Green Party Women suspended for Querying Whether Transwomen are Female

Emma Bateman
@EmmaBatemanGPW
On March 8th, International Women's Day, I was suspended from the Green Party following a complaint by 2 fellow GPW committee members

Because I queried whether trans women are female.
Green Party policy is that 'trans women are women'

Now we must agree that they are also female

I thought Emma had gone a bit quiet since the weekend where they voted down a motion to support sex based rights.

It turns out that Emma might have been forced to accept the language re. transwomen are women but queried whether they are actually female. They objected to that as well obviously.

I guess it was only a matter of time as Kathryn Bristow's stated focus from the start was to take down Emma (rather than actually do any for women).

This is ridiculous.

The bit I don't get is conceding the word woman to start with, a man cannot gave any kind of claim of being a woman.

The FINAL proof that the Green Party UK are no longer a political party that are about Environmental issues.

They are a political entity whose sole cause is gender queerness.

An utter shame for those of us actually interested in environmental issues.

Green Party = Fake identity ideology interest group. Got it.

Back to grassroots environmental groups for real change.

well colour me shocked!! there was obviously no way this co chair thing was going to be allowed to actually stand in practice. Sadly Emma will be forced out and Bristow will take over the chair of the women's committee in their own right

Im glad I have rediscovered mumsnet, to have a place to discuss these things!
In the Green party and probably in the Labour Party, you would be expelled for stating that a biological male who identified as female, was not a woman. That is now regarded as discrimination and bullying.

hi Crumpet - glad you've rediscovered Mumsnet - this board has been such a source of support and information since I discovered what is going on.

The Labour Party made a big fuss about expelling member who didn't sign up to the twaw pledge - I wonder how many they expelled in the end.

The Green Party were sadly lost a long time ago when they knowingly allowed a man who had kidnapped a young girl and kept her in his attic and raped her multiple times to be an election agent for one of their candidates but I do think we need a party that focuses on green issues and helps move things forward.

It turns out that the Green Party are not the party to prioritise the environment sadly.

Exactly. As Abigail Shrier says - you start with one big lie (TWAW), and then need a whole lots of little lies to keep going in order to support it.

I cannot believe how many seemingly educated people tie themselves in knots trying be ok with this.

The Equality Act - you know the actual law of the land - distinguishes between female and male born people.

Thanks for the welcome🙂
I saw some of the "young greens" pledges on trans issues and although I can get on board with some of them (no victimisation etc) the ones about mandatory education in schools and faster "health care" (read, hormones) for kids just send a chill down my spine 😕 I don't want my daughter aged 8 to be taught this ideology like its the only truth!

There's just no hope left for the Green Party. I've just tried logging into my members page and it won't let me, even after password reset, which is odd. I'm going to cancel my membership and explain why, not that it will make any difference. Well done and thank you to Emma for all her efforts in the face of massive adversity.

This does fall smack into the area of Maya's case - albeit this isn't employment.

But if an organisation appears unable to acknowledge the distinction between male and female that the Equality Act is based on, then it seems like they may be contravening it by default.

If they are insisting that Kathryn Bristow is female then are they not discriminating against all actual female people in their organisation, as that means there is no monitoring of fairness towards actual female people.

The material reality is that 200 species a day are going extinct, fossil fuel emissions are causing long term disruption in climate patterns, habitats are being lost at an alarming rate for forestry and agriculture. The Greens expect us to "trust the science" with them on these facts, when they don't even understand what a woman and what a man is, and why this might be an important distinction politically?

Can't take them seriously on the first point when they deny the second.

🤡 politics

While looking for the membership page so that I can resign, I came across the Green Party's safeguarding policy and noted this:

To assist in creating this environment, you may wish to ask an Executive Committee member of a different gender from you to assist you in your safeguarding duties. This will help ensure that concerned members have a choice of people and genders to report any concerns to.

Any idea how that is supposed to be implemented?

Will this be in their manifesto if it's what they believe?

With a heavy heart I have just resigned. Biological sex is a scientific fact and I just can't support a party that exhibits such doublethink to the extent that a party officer (who actually seems to care about climate change) has been suspended.
