I know this issue has been doing the rounds, but it’s trending on Twitter today:

Do not do that if you cannot afford the fine.

Not everyone who does not return a form is prosecuted, but it can and does happen

I've just looked at the census questionnaire for 2021. Question 3 just asks "What is your sex?", question 27 asks "Is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?". Question 3 has no definition of sex, it certainly doesn't say it shouldn't be the one you were born with. I would read it as meaning the sex I was born with an answer accordingly.

Yes, of course.
...and members of the opposite sex to you will read the guidance notes which clarify that you can put down the opposite sex if you have self-identified as such.

And presto, the sex:female category is a useless jumble of both male and female people. People who have provided their actual biological sex, and people who have provided the opposite to their biological sex. All muddled in the same category, indistinguishable one from the other. Utterly corrupted data, impossible to retrieve the facts from the anti-facts.

It's designed to encourage honest people to answer factually and in good faith so that their data can be purposefully conflated irretrievably with the people who are encouraged to answer with the opposite of sex.

You can't conflate facts with fiction unless both parties willingly participate in the conflation, or you compel one party to provide facts, and exempt another party from the same.
The exercise is designed to conflate both sexes under the category sex: female. The conflation either happens with willing and naive participants, or it is forced.

But the objective is conflation of the sexes.
The ONS have rejected the alternative, which is to require the opposite sexes to truthfully differentiate themselves.

Another poster on a different thread has rightly pointed out that we should wait for a uniformed and united approach to be suggested by the appropriate women’s organisations and we can follow that lead.

Again, to paraphrase another poster, the last thing we want is for women to be under represented and for less funding be made for eg menopausal health or female cancers

They're asking "sex" - also specifically at birth - in order to prevent self identification from enabling an answer outside of fact. The questions, collectively, are quite clearly differentiating between sex at birth and any "gender identity".

As far as I can see, the questions have been carefully crafted, and in women's best interests so surely pushing for a boycott would only serve "other interests"?

I would question who really wants this boycott.

Are they definitely asking d’or “sex at birth” though? Does anyone have access to the guidance fpr completion of this census?

If that's the case then surely the sex:male category will also be a jumble of male and female people, so both will be equally useless. I had a look through the questionnaire and couldn't see any guidance notes. Surely most people will just put their sex at birth?

There is joint action lead by FPFW suing ONS. They’ve raised enough to start the JR if need it. Have a look at the site launch yesterday and help if you can.
