Cervix-havers and birthing people: record of organisations replacing the word "woman"

Just as with the "Have you ever ... ?" thread, which has become a brilliant resource to show anyone doubting the relevance of sex, I'd like to gather a list of organisations that have replaced the word "woman" with some reference to a female body part or bodily function.

I'm discovering that a lot of my woke-leaning (but relatively critically thinking) peers are simply unaware of what's been going on, and that part of the key to getting them on board is having enough evidence that they can't dismiss it with "but that's just an isolated case". This seems a great place to crowd-source that evidence.

Apologies if there's already a thread like this — do link it here. Otherwise, please share any examples you've come across!

Did a longer reply to this before the thread disappeared this morning glad to see it’s been reinstated.

The more public examples were Cancer Research, NHS and HSE (Irelands health service) and other cervical cancer charities all removing the words women, woman, female from their material. Interestingly after many complaints and news paper articles in the likes of the Mail they have quietly updated their material to say women and trans men

Shows complaining is worth it even if they are foul to people who do complain at the time.

An excellent idea.

Macmillan cancer charity ‘people’ get cervical cancer but ‘men’ get penile and prostate cancer.

As mentioned above Cervical check (run by the HSE, Ireland"s health service) used "people with a cervix". After a lot of complaints, and very reluctantly, they moved to women and transmen.

Oddly, bthe same health service only uses the word "man" in its Prostate Cancer information Hmm

How depressing. Macmillan are such a good charity to support. They should be ashamed of this.
I have regular dealings with a lovely young woman whose treatment for cervical cancer basically trashed her entire pelvis. She's cured of cancer but her body is a wreck. I feel so sad for her. The last thing she needs is to be told she's not a woman, and isn't a mother to her children.

Very depressing about Macmillan, it’s a very worthwhile charity I’d very much like to continue to support but every time I go to donate I struggle to get past them erasing women when they are at their most vulnerable.

Other organisations that erase women are many (all?) of the period poverty charities like Bloody Good Period www.bloodygoodperiod.com/ their website is better written so it’s not as clumsy as the nhs but no women there

Number one, from a blog is my favourite “will affect uterus havers as well as women”. Wut?

I’ve recently noticed an interesting connection between disparate groups who face entrenched, systemic discrimination and violence on account of particular anatomical characteristics, and wondered whether there might be some benefit in forming an alliance between these groups in order to more effectively advocate and campaign for their rights?

Love the sharp wit with which women are able to meet this assault on their language. It seems to me to be in stark contrast to the feeble-minded, humourless whining beloved of the authoritarians promulgating this shite.

It’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the word “menstruator”.

Who are these “people who bleed”, Libby cup, and why are they bleeding? Are they just really prone to paper cuts or something?

Oh, I see, they’re menstruators. Thank you for clearing that up.

Nice try, Ladybox, but you’ve undermined yourself there by missing the reference to “feminine” hygiene products. Oops, off to the gulag with you!

And here’s the “menstrual manifesto”, working towards gender equity by being unable to mention which sex gets periods. Bravo.

And last up, here’s a piece of research looking at inequalities in the work place caused by menstruation that gets through the whole abstract without using the word woman once. A masterpiece.

Gift a Lady Box to the special Menstruator in your life.

Anyone would think it was a valentine's gift or at least a birthday present.
I suppose at least they give us a clue and specify it is for a menstruator....without that I might have thought it was some sort of sports underwear to protect the lady dick of a person playing on the women's cricket team. Hmm

Well I won't be sending one to my very special daughter, who is a woman who has rotten periods.

This is a good one, sharing as it's one I'd be happy to be replicated. It's from public health England this week re: invitation for cervical cancer screening. They include the words "women and people with a cervix", and note that transmen who are female should be called automatically by their GPs and that if they have changed their markers to "male" that they need to get in contact to arrange their smears. Over the page it has a diagram of "the female reproductive system", noting where the cervix is- so thank you to whoever is working in public health England on this!

The Government!

legislation.gov.uk

Civil Partnerships, Marriages and Deaths (Registration etc) Act 2019

Section 3 (2)

3
Report on registration of pregnancy loss
(1)
The Secretary of State must make arrangements for the preparation of a report on whether, and if so how, the law ought to be changed to require or permit the registration of pregnancy losses which cannot be registered as still-births under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953.
(2)
For the purposes of this section, a pregnancy loss occurs when a person's pregnancy ends and, after being parted from the person, the foetus does not breathe or show any other sign of life.

That's right. A pregnancy loss occurs when a person's pregnancy ends and, after being parted from the person, the foetus does not breathe or show any other sign of life.

A PERSON's pregnancy ends.

I have never had a miscarriage or a still birth, but to see it described like this would be so upsetting.
