Biden has completely obliterated woman’s sex based protections as he said he would do.

“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports."

Biden just passed all the worst parts of the Equality Act by executive order (so without going through any legislation at all). It is limited in effect to agencies (I think) but those agencies include the Bureau of Prisons, Dept of Housing and Urban Development, Dept of Education, Dept of Labor etc

This will of course be unchallenged, even welcomed by the media. It will likely have a knock on effect around the world.

And I am so angry. So so angry. He was never the ‘least worst option’ he is the absolute worst option.

So the UK has (so far) begun to edge very slightly towards protecting women’s rights, and the US have jumped into the more extremely realms of transactivism with both feet. The cards were on the wall when he parachuted a pair of transactivists into positions within his government. Unsurprisingly, neither were transmen.

So I guess we will now see what happens in a libertarian society with the brakes off.

Its also such a divisive and unnecessary "woke" thing to do on day one in such a divided land.

"Hello, we're in charge and identity politics is our big thing. Fuck anyone here who might query this, you're just on the wrong side of history and the bad guys."

Brilliant opening move.

It's horrifying. But you know, we tried, we tried to show people what would happen, we fought and argued and some of us fell.... We pointed out all the flaws, we crowd funded, we went to court, we tried to stop it......

It really might be that everyone has to SEE with their own eyes the damage caused before there is action. Its a horrible situation to be in, but that eventual 'I told you so' better be loud and long!!!!

Prisons, education and children’s sport...This is a terrifyingly naive move.

Trump was absolutely not better, no, and he sure as hell wasn't acting out of a care for women's rights. He was transphobic as opposed to wanting to remove all the current gender constructs in society, while retaining some sex based laws and rights.

No, Trump was worse. Unfortunately for women voters in the US the choice was women's abortion rights or women's sport.

I guess I can see the point though that Trump was open and blunt about who he was and what he thought. He pretty much openly revealed on twitter every day what a revolting shit he was after all. Now it its a return to career politicians whose motives are not always pure as snow but are less obvious despite that.

Biden was worse than Trump on this particular issue. Voters had to weigh up everything, including Trump's stance on climate change, his attitude towards women in general, his racism, his attitude towards democracy...

Biden is hideously wrong on this issue, but Trump was worse on so many others.

Doesn't say much when the only choice is which woman hating man do we pick....

The reality won't go down well with many of the people who voted him in.

I hope this will be a bit of a wake up call.

The left are now worse than the right, the cancel culture & de-fund the police are two worrying trends they support.

They’ll jump on any bandwagon just be part of the in crowd, it doesn’t matter to them either what issue it is either.

Which doesn't stop me being fucking furious because Biden has just signed away women's sports not just in the US but worldwide, because all national Olympic committees care about is the medal table, so if th US has transwomen on the team the attitude will be "we'd better have some too.

Er, yes, for the things he's done in the first 24 hours...

Is there some sort of grace period where elected politicians get to enact whatever they want without anyone being permitted to comment on it?

Just absolutely gutting. First thing he does after calling for unity is stomp all over women and girls rights.

Awful news. Really sorry (and angry) for American women and girls. And yes, this will affect other countries wanting to emulate the USA. Sad

The discussion is on an Executive Order that he has already signed. A policy put in place by the Biden administration.

What do you mean by 'give him a chance'? He had the chance not to do this but he has.

I've read the executive order and there are good things in it. It's absolutely right that people shouldn't be fired or lose access to housing or healthcare because of gender identity or sexual orientation. (Incredible to a Brit that this hadn't already been legislated on but anyway...) But the whole order needed discussion, and the discussion needed to happen before Biden was elected. He doesn't need to listen now.
