Might be worth keeping an eye on Danial's account (unless and until it gets suspended). He is collecting concerning stories about Gender GP.

twitter.com/DanialWebb/status/1343815417417101312?s=20

THREAD: Since my recent tweets about GenderGP I've had several clinicians contact me with grave concerns around horrendous safeguarding failures with GenderGP's operation. I'm going to recount one here today. Others will follow. 1/5

Case one concerns a girl, aged 15, with a long history of repeated suicide attempts, some requiring hospitalisation. She identified as trans though her neither parents nor her clinician agreed, seeing instead a profoundly traumatised child. 2/5

This child, aged, 15, travelled to GenderGP in Wales. Without any consultation with CAMHS or GIDS ot he child's parents, GenderGP prescribed testosterone the same day. The child is now a young woman aged 18, identifying as a transman. 3/5

Despite GIDS/GIC taking over prescribing, despite the breast removal, despite being rehoused by the local authority to escape 'transphobic' parents, the self harm and suicide attempts continue. 4/5

To recap, GenderGP prescribed testosterone to a 15 year old girl with a long history of suicide attempts, after a single appointment, without any reference to her parents or to local mental health services.

Why are the directors of GenderGP not facing prosecution for this? 5/5

“Where is GenderGP really located. The company registration is held in trust in Belize, but can you really say that it is outside the UK, when it appears that all of its staff are based in the UK?”

For tax purposes, no - if all the staff are in the U.K. and everything seems to be run from the U.K., it is a U.K. based company.

It will be interesting to see the letter the Baroness has sent to Matt Hancock and what reply she receives back.

She tweeted on 29/12/20

All that work to be a registered GP and in Mike's case a Consultant Gastroenterologist. What a way to end your career.

I do find it inexplicable why they took this route.

Absolutely! And why are they being allowed to continue? In the country where a couple of dodgy tweets can get you a knock at the door and be carted off to the local nick - these people are the faces (and most likely owners, however well disguised) of a company openly selling dangerous medication to children.

Are they untouchable??

Following the money and looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

Helen Webberley has all manner of specialisms as well as General Practitioner expertise in online prescribing. I don’t know if Danial has found all these historical records.

“British pharmacy chain launches online drugstore for Maine consumers”
Bangor Maine Daily News
Oct 7 2014

Extracts:

”A British pharmacy chain has launched an online drugstore in Maine, taking advantage of a controversial first-in-the-nation law that allows Maine residents to buy medicines from some foreign countries.

Touting “British drugs at British prices,” the Great British Drugstore sells brand-name prescription medications by mail order at prices up to 70 percent lower than in the U.S. The company plans to announce its Maine launch on Wednesday afternoon at a news conference in Portland.

”What we’re trying to do is target people who need to access medicines who can’t afford them,” m said Mary O’Brien, managing director for Great British Drugstore.

Operated by the British pharmacy company Weldricks, an independently owned chain with 61 locations throughout the United Kingdom, the site targets only Maine consumers.”

. . .

”Customers must fill out a health questionnaire on the site, which will be reviewed by a U.K. physician with 20 years of experience, Dr. Helen Webberley. If Webberley finds no problems, she will recreate each prescription for the U.K.”

Gosh. I hadn't known about all that history. Molesmokes
I think the more recent one managed to get Christian Jesse onboard or was he just involved in the advertising? (Was it Clear Chemist?) Anyway he obviously hadn't done his homework and backed away quickly.

When was she last a regular GP putting in the hours with a practice I wonder?

The Maine pharmacy providing cut price prescriptions to Americans sounds like a winner, I wonder what the problems were that she didn't just stick with that and rake in $$$ from Americans for very little effort.

with the exception of two provided by her husband (Gambling addiction and Alcohol.)

I read that wrong as part of her husband's history! Mind, it would explain a lot. grin

There is an annual review of 2020 on GenderGPs website

Number of patients started on gender-affirming treatment = 1861
Percentage of patients under 16 = 16%

Those statistics would suggest that about 300 children were given puberty blockers and/or cross sex hormones last year by GenderGP.

Not exactly.

The percentage of patients registered with them who are under 16 is 16%. They don't say what treatment these children have been prescribed. It doesn't say that 16% of those receiving hormone treatment are children under 16.

It also doesn't give the total number of patients who are/were registered with them in 2020. So the total number of under 16s could be much higher than 300, but we don't know how many of them were given puberty blockers or other hormone treatment.

The figure of 1861 patients 'started on hormone treatment' doesn't tell us how many are currently receiving that treatment, since patients who started this treatment in 2019 or earlier wouldn't be included in this figure.

Those 'at a glance' statistics tell us nothing at all (apart from the fact that their business is growing).

My now 21 year old stepchild was "diagnosed" and prescribed female hormones after a questionnaire and 45 min Skype call with Gender GP. No sperm freezing, no therapy, no taking into account autism, multiple mental health issues, childhood trauma. It's the saddest thing for this individual and utterly awful that so many vulnerable people are being treated in this way. I tried so hard to help but got nowhere.

ArabellaScott Sat 09-Jan-21 20:52:10

I'm so sorry, NoPink. It must be horrible to watch and not be able to do anything. flowers
