(27 Posts)Keira has a crowdfunder to raise funds to start a website. I hadn't seen a post about it here yet. It popped up on her twitter feed.
Maybe she should self fund it? I'm sure she will make a lot of money from her story not to mention suing the NHS
I think lots of children and young people with gender dysphoria would find it helpful to read her story on a website.
Some people think that suing the NHS is about getting money. When it fact it’s usually done to stop the bad things that happened to you happening again to other people. It’s generally altruistic.
Many people make no money at all as any compensation often goes on legal and other costs.

Is she 'suing the NHS'?
I don't think Keira has made any financial claim against the NHS. I understood that the judicial review process was only about changing the way the NHS is allowed to treat children with gender dysphoria.
It was a judicial review - she was not suing them. She gets no damages. She was awarded costs.
I understand that the court case was a judicial review, but that doesn't mean she wont sue for damages.

Do you have the slightest evidence that she might be planning to do that?
If not, then you're just casting aspersions.

Correcting myself - it's about changing the law in England and Wales regarding treatment for children with gender dysphoria, so it applies to private practices as well, and I'm uncertain whether it applies to the NHS in Scotland and NI. I believe the Scottish NHS gender clinic for children has said that it doesn't apply to them. But IANAL.
Nothing to do with suing them for money though.

So you think she should to fund her site? And I note that you're now assuming she'd win. I don't think you're supposed to admit that.

Doesn't mean she will either.

Maybe you should check your sources, it's really not a good thing to write unsubstantiated lies on a public forum.
Anyway, back to the topic - do you have a link to the twitter, OP? I'm not on twitter and can never find anything. I'm sure lots of us might like to know more about this.
Not sure if we get told off for posting a link to a tweet linking to a Crowdfunder...
But here's Keira:

You seem to think she should do that. I agree that it wouldn't be an unreasonable thing to do because she was terribly let down by all the doctors and psychotherapists who treated her at the Tavistock, as well as the surgeon who carried out an entirely unnecessary double mastectomy on a young woman.
But this is purely speculative on your part. Shall we stick to the facts from here? Her motivation seems to have been to prevent harm being done to more young women like her, which I'm sure you'll agree is an admirable stand to take.
Isn't there a word for telling lies about someone and trying to make them look bad 🤔
Thanks for highlighting OP. The link in the Twitter bio is not the website crowdfunder for those digging, that's the Susan Evans one, scroll down her timeline to find the website link.
I am not telling lies!
It's my opinion, is that not the point of a public forum ? To express and debate different opinions, different views etc ?
I dont appreciate the hostility just because I feel cynical on this subject. So I will bow out and leave you to back slapping fest.
Enjoy

Thanks - yes, we can't link directly to any crowdfunder, but afaik twitter threads are ok. There's lots of other interesting stuff under there too - and I love that fractal image at the top. So much more interesting than a 'spectrum'.

But suggesting someone has done something and then when corrected saying that they might do it in future, all as an attempt to smear them isn't just 'opinion'.
'Opinion' would be saying 'I think she should sue' or 'I don't think she should sue'.
'Opinion' could also be 'I disagree with the verdict of the three senior judges at the High Court'. But in this case you'd be asked to explain how a child could consent to things which only an adult could fully understand.
thanks for linking @NecessaryScene1 and for being for more informational @HecatesCatsInXmasHat I remember being 23, although I am considerably older now. I didn't have 2 pennies to rub together, to self fund anything like this. A couple of people were kind to me and I will never forget them. A couple of quid and support from older people who have found their feet can make an enormous difference. No-one who has followed Keira's story could accuse her of trying to make money. There are lots of things in the world to be rightly cynical about, I don't think this is one of them. And anyway, one gives what one can afford. Sometimes that is just a thank you for standing up for what you think is right.

No, you made a snide, unsubstantiated accusation and failed to provide any reasoning for what you said. Then you flounced.
'Snide and flounce' snap
It's like a new dance.
I'd put £5+ Keira's way to help her get a new website started.
