Why are men mostly the perpetrators of sexual harassment?

This question popped into my head as I came across a question on Reddit. It was of a woman who received a Facebook request at night from a police officer after having handed in a missing wallet. People in the comments say they themselves know women or have experienced similar things from men.

Now granted, that's at the very minor end of things in terms of sexual harassment but it begs the question, why is it that it's mostly men who do this? I know that culturally, female on male harassment is played down by society and even men themselves may fail to acknowledge it but one can't deny that the majority of sexual attention from one gender to another is men on women whether it's verbal or physical harassment. So what is it? Is it how men are raised, biology or a mixture of both?

I think everyone in #MeToo was a male celebrity abusing a female celebrity.

I don't think that's at the minor end at all! That's serious...because a police officer is in a position of power and trust...breaching his position of trust in this way is in my opinion a sackable offence.

Asking the question you're asking is too big to answer....it's a mixture of nature and nurture.

Men being conditioned to be expectant.

I see it all the time. MIL telling my nephew that he's "in charge" and he's "The boss" all the fucking time.

DH is a feminist and speaks up...saying things like "No...he's not in charge...he's 4. The grown ups are in charge.."

Which MIL thinks is pathetic but she's not saying our DD's are in charge is she! So DH knocks that shit on the head as soon as it comes out of her mouth.

If more men and more women got onto changing things when boys are small, the world would improve faster.

Because men are sexually attracted to women. Women are not sexually attracted to men.
In fact the never ending female hysteria about sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sexual objectification shows they also have an innate hatred and disgust of male sexuality. Just the idea that a man is secretly aroused by them from afar, i.e. a peeping Tom, without even any physical contact, sends waves of fear and revulsion down their spines and triggers them with bloodthirsty vengeful desires.
In general sex is just the price women are willing to pay to get a relationship from men, which is what they really want (there are exceptions of course). Nothing to do with how men and women are raised. It's pure biology.

Do you have evidence to support any of this nonsense?

Perhaps men are less likely to consider unwanted behaviour as harrassment?

I've had unwished-for physical contact from women. I've simply tried to politely ignore it. While some of it took place in work related contexts -- office parties and the like -- I had no wish to see someone lose her job simply for being attracted to me.

RidinWithBiden You are wrong.

So many men read No as the start of a negotiation.

It’s largely due to the patriarchal society we live in, which was created due to men being on average physically stronger, which has given them power over women since humans existed. This power creates a sense of sexual entitlement and a lack of fear (because women are usually weaker and can be overpowered), this together with toxic masculinity which prizes male aggression and female submission and teaches men that if they just persist long enough a woman will eventually back down because she does really want it she’s just pretending she doesn’t.

What a curious perspective, RidinWithBiden

I think it's because men have the power. The bodily power, the social power (ie positions of power) and continued shite like 'this is just how it is' 'boys will be boys' 'everyone wants a bad boy' etc. They know that society often supports low level harrassment.

It's all true. We're actually succubi hmm

Entitlement, physical superiority and the fact that rape is in practical terms almost never punished, given the abysmal conviction rate (and the few women that come forward in the first place).

^ This. Isolated incidents aside, such as drunk women on hen nights.

RidinWithBiden I think you missing a whole ‘consent’ aspect in your nonsense.
Straight women like sex with SOME men, sometimes, when they consent to it.
