“Democratic Hawaii Rep. and former 2020 Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard introduced a bill into the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday that would dictate Title IX protections for female athletes be based on biological sex—a term often used to refer to gender assigned to a person at birth—thats advocate have decried as inherently transphobic.”

Yes, Time, biological sex is a term often used to gender assigned to a person at birth.

Gabbard getting lots of flack over this.

Good for her, just wish more democrats would find a spine.

THAT is who should have been the next US President - I reckon she would have been by now if sodding Hillary Clinton had not smeared her as a traitor and “Russian asset” after Tulsi wiped the floor with the opposition in the Democratic Primaries!

She’s also got a proposal in to curb Big Tech, supporting Trump, so the Democrats will really have it in for her already.

Wonderful woman! Fearless and principled! ❤️

Time magazine, honestly. Not the first time recently they’ve done this.

“biological sex—a term often used to refer to gender assigned to a person at birth” - hm. Strike that. Reverse it.

The fact a credible news outlet like that is now pushing the idea that acknowledging biological sex is “inherently transphobic” is frightening.

Yes, Time, biological sex is a term often used to gender assigned to a person at birth.

Because "gender" is assigned to us, generally to the detriment of women, based on our sex. Hmm(I'm eye rolling Time, not you OP, obv)

Sorry, I misread - think they mean to say the bill is inherently transphobic.

Critics of it say it is an “attack” with a “dangerous message” (of course they do). It’s so tiresome.

I don't know very much about Tulsi Gabbard. I think I need to read up on her a bit.

I can’t keep saying things are Orwellian, but honestly what else is there to say about such “journalism”?

Rather more supportive coverage in the New York Post - ends with a couple of teeth-gnashing quotes, the first from “Gotta Gold Lamé Purse so I’m a Girl” Clymer Grin

I know how you feel, but if they keep writing Orwellian nonsense it needs saying.

I'd love to ask the person who wrote that a few questions.

I did notice the first reports on this (from Huff and elsewhere) used headlines which flagged this as 'ant-trans' and the responses were all vitriol directed towards Gabbard.

Took a while for those other, less biased headlines to surface (New York Post [!] and then Newsweek)

She was on Joe Rogan a while back. Absolutely love her.

'that would dictate Title IX protections for female athletes be based on biological sex'

Hmm, should we base protections for female athletes on (a) their actually being of the female sex or (b) their claims to have an unmeasurable, nebulous sense of 'feeling' like a girl? It's a thinker, for sure Hmm

And I just love how they feel they have to explain what is meant by biological sex, as if we don't all understand perfectly well what it means.

I really wish self-proclaimed feminists would stop denying sex differences. Having disavantages and limitations (provable ones that have been shown time and time again) in the realm of athletic ability compared to males does not mean we don't deserve rights or are inherently inferior or shouldn't play sport.

Meant to add that Tulsi is brave going against the Democratic party line on this.

I never realised that Title IX was the work of this woman from Gabbard's home state en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patsy_Mink and others.

Would’ve been braver to bring it up during the presidential primary, when she had the national stage and could have busted the issue wide open, but... Beggars can’t be choosers. I will ask my rep to support the bill—look forward to being put on their young staffers’ list of ‘fascist’ constituents.

Yes, it’s gaslighting. They’re trying to convince us we don’t know what it means. You can keep trying lads, but it’s not working.

Will help to embolden every parent with a sporty girl to speak out - bear in mind it might mean an education or not.

Critical mass.

Feel much more comfortable with this coming from Tulsi Gabbard than the corrupt crook Kelly Loeffler.
