An article on the killing of women in the uk

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/nov/22/if-im-not-in-on-friday-i-might-be-dead-chilling-facts-about-uk-femicide

Still reading it, but jolted at the point where it says

1/3 of the women had previously reported their murderer to the police

Wtf is going on there ?

The police and all other authorities don't give a shit about women.

I don’t think it’s as simple as the police and other authorities not giving a shit. I know people in these professions and they seem conditioned to think that this is just one of those things that happens to women from time to time, and that it is not something they have any power to change. Institutional sexism and internalised misogyny.

This makes me think of Shana Grice who complained to police about her ex-boyfriend 5 times before he murdered her. They even fined her for wasting police time. There seemed to be completely inadequate internal procedures, coupled with an instinct to disbelieve her:

Michelle Savage similarly reported her estranged husband to Sussex Police several times before he murdered her:

Yes, I read this. I know it isn't "top trumps" /" numbers game" about who suffers more. And I am desperately sad about the idea that someone is killed for not conforming to what is expected of their sex. Yesterday's Transgender Remembrance Day.
But this is a huge number and it isn't going away and we still need to ensure that murderous bastards don't get access to women's safe spaces.

Not surprising. My mother reported her attacked multiple times, and got various excuses from 'we can't do anything until he does something' (when it was threats)', 'its your word against his, and 'he says you hit him first'...finally, he was prosecuted though, after he hit the MAN my mother had there regularly as she was scared in her own home Hmm Hard to have much faith after seeing that nonsense at 15 tbh.
