If that is what they are doing then they are idiots. Why would politicians ignore feedback? If they disagree then it at least gives them idea of barriers theyface with their preferred course of action. Alternatively, it is strange how some posters are concerned we might ve wasting our time. But our time is our own to use as we please.

I completed it without giving an email address. I've just done it again and didn't give my email address. It only asks for an email address if you want them to contact you. An email address is not required to respond or sumit.

It's not asked for in the 2 I submitted unless I want them to keep in touch with me- I don't and I didn't give my email or telephone number.

Yes, that's the point. The Tories started using this type of 'survey' a couple of years ago. People are more likely to give their email addresses because:

1. The questions frame the Lib Dems in a good light "Willie Rennie and the Scottish Liberal Democrats have worked constructively with the Scottish Government to get us through this crisis. Do you think this was the right thing to do?"

1. The questions make people feel like they are being listened to.

1. By the time they get to the important bit people are primed to be receptive. The three mandatory questions before the email and phone number ones both get you to give up personal information.

It takes staff time to go through written responses. What happens to the data depends on who is doing it, so it's correct to say I'm overstating to say no-one will read them (though that's what happened in the similar one's I'm aware of). If they get few responses they might well feel it's worth the time.

Not some posters, just me. Feel free to search me if you doubt my motivation. Of course people should do as they wish, I spend a non-trivial amount of time and money opposing self-ID and I just thought this one was likely to be ineffective.

You know maybe you could credit people with having a bit of intelligence and common sense. It was clearly the case that email and telephone were not required.

Why so aggressive? Those aren't my thoughts, they are the rationale behind using push-polls rather than just asking people to sign up for a newsletter. Clearly some people fall for it because they tend to generate a much higher number of sign-ups than traditional SM adverts.

I'm quite aware you don't need to sign up for emails. I didn't say you did. I didn't imagine everyone would suddenly put their email addresses in, nor is it a problem if they do.

Really? Your only contribution to this thread has been to tell posters, wrongly, not to complete it as it will ask for your email and then assume that anyone filling it in would be tricked into revealing it. It's a bit patronising to assume people would fall for it unless you warned them.

It does ask for your email. I haven't 'told' anyone not to complete it.

Fall for what? I simply expressed the opinion that this particular survey was unlikely to go anywhere and when asked why they would do something like that explained the rationale behind it as it was explained to me.
