I remember reading on here that he had defended porn as a release, blah de blah. I have watched quite a lot of his podcasts on YouTube and he seems to realise the damaging effects of going down more and more extreme rabbit holes. Has he ever addressed his previous promotion? Or am I missing something and he never defended it?

I know he has addressed his previous attitudes wrt "gamergate" whatever the the fuck that was all about, which obviously is good, people learn and change.

I don't want to speak for him but I have seen comments where he's said "I thought porn would work as a release but I was wrong and it makes things worse." Paraphrasing but that was the gist. Look on his website or contact him.

Oh, yeah, it's all very embarrassing. I was extremely naive, not just about that but many other aspects of our tech utopia. I thought connectivity would give us more empathy, I thought people wouldn't be able to tell lies as easily...everything I believed, the opposite has come to pass. And porn is the worst of all because the stakes are so high for women and girls.

Can’t say fairer than that. I can well remember being snapped at by a sex worker and trying to twist my beliefs to fit her autonomy. I also remember thinking the internet would be like guide camp in the ether with everything in Esperanto. We live and learn.

It’s also a rare thing these days for someone to listen and change their view, in this generation of echo chambers and pile-ons. Even more so to have the humility and self awareness to say so. We can’t all be Father Peter Perfect the perfect priest :)

I wish I were good at writing, but how I feel about online porn is that it has prevented future generations from ever finding out the excitement, thrill and enjoyment of actual real, consensual, loving sex, for themselves.

The fact it's so prevalent and in your face from such a young age online, it is shaping young people's sexualities.

The sex on screen almost always caters solely to a desperate male fantasy of domination, all you need to look at is the porn video titles, "slut" this, "slag" that, "teen slapper" the "she likes it rough' and all the rest, the submission/dominant role is so blatant.

You just can't convince porn users that sex isn't actually like that in real life.

(Of course some women do like it rough and to be hurt during sex I'm not denying these people exist let's assume that conversation has been had already and that I am talking about the vast majority of women who prefer sex without pain).
