The police should not record us as hateful in secret

Dear all

At 2pm Tomorrow I will be launching something which I understand it is against the terms and conditions of this site to mention but i hope you will check out my Twitter page for more information - @SVPhillimore.

I know its a difficult time of the year to ask people to do more gardening but if you don't feel like actually hefting a spade I would be really grateful if you could amplify my information.

I seriously think we are currently facing the most significant threat to our fundamental civil liberties in my life time. My lawyers have written today to Wiltshire and the College of Policing to give them until November 20th to delete the recording made about me that I am 'hateful' and to withdraw the hate crimes guidance. If they won't - we go to court.

Good on you.

Fantastic. I know court would be hugely stressful and expensive but if it sets a precedent and re-establishes our human rights it will be worth every penny.

I agree, if they absolutely must record hate incidents then the "perpetrator" should be informed, and a robust process of appeal in place.

Excellent news. The hate crime legislation is so full of contradictions and subjective views, the fact it's got this far is outrageous.

Solidarity, Spero. I was just thinking I’d like to do a bit of digging before putting the garden to bed for the winter...

Are we to await to further digging instructions Spero or is there an existing hole?

Thank you Spero - I worked out the other day that I have saved lots over the last few months by getting my meal planning properly sorted in order to avoid too many supermarket visits so my digging budget has improved.

I do think of the financial and personal cost of all this ‘goings on’ to people like yourself and Maya, Anne, Keira etc etc - I have noticed the impact of the tiny bits that I am trying to do to raise awareness of this issue on my business, running a family etc so I can’t imagine how much impact it has on you so thank you for what you are doing.

Thanks for everything you're doing Spero. Funnily enough this is a designated garden winter prep weekend.

The gardens will be open to the public from 2pm tomorrow and will need a thorough digging over in readiness for winter.

These 'hate' incidents aren't crimes; my goodness, they are not even hate, as they don't have to contain evidence of hate. The College of Policing is supposedly revising the guidance, as we learnt from the Miller court case. I don't know if that will be any help to the OP.
Miller is planning to appeal to the Supreme Court about the gathering and keeping of this material, as I expect the OP knows.

had been expecting. Will be my last bit of gardening until January but hate speech and police actions seem very out of control and undemocratic.

Indeed. The fundamental problem with all of this is that it is built on the concept of 'hate' which now seems to mean 'not agreeing with men'.

The Stasi ended in 1989 when the wall fell. In 2016 I took a photo of my daughter next to a piece of the fallen wall. I had no idea only 4 years later I would have to threaten the police with court to attempt to restore sanity.

I think it shows how vulnerable and how precious our essential freedoms are - and how easily some will give them up.

I will be forever grateful to anyone who can help me with a spot of necessary digging here.

As someone who is not on Twitter are there any directions on what bit of the garden to dig in?
