See attached. Advert on behalf of the Scottish government.

What is deemed transphobic and can be reported as 'hate crime' ? Is the hate crime bill in effect now?

It's anything, anything at all, as long as,, someone who doesn't have to be present at the time of the alleged hate crime reports it, its a hate crime. Its about the feels

They must have a sense of humour advertising that on Mumsnet.

Aren't the adverts which appear based on your internet browsing?

All I seem to get now are Max Mara, Penhaligon's and Coast- which is fine.

These have been around a while I think, seen them on buses before (and I've not been on a bus since March).
There's a whole series:
"Dear racists..." "Dear bigots...."
Etc.
Although I am against racism etc, I am a bit unsure what the point of the adverts is... if someone is, for eg, racist or actually transphobic* I hardly think they will change their mind based on a passive aggressive poster.

*I dont think that the majority of posters on FWR are transphobic btw (and nor is JKR) but transphobia does of course exist.

The mismatched fonts give it a weird, snipped out of a newspaper vibe.
Like a retro random note.
Very odd.

Wouldn't it be lovely to see an ad:

"Dear Women, we understand your plight. We adhere to your decades old, hard won, sex based rights, we fight to keep you and your daughters safe in a patriarchal society. We promise to keep you safe"

Never gonna happen 😪

Ah, yes, these were launched last year to much derision and really hit home how little women matter. Because although the new hate crime law hadn't and hasn't been set up yet, they added this one to their list. But not a peep about misogyny.

@DidoLamenting also getting lots of Max Mara but that's because bought a jacket in the sale lately!

I was just reading an article about the topic about 2 hours ago so I assume it is coming from this. Quite surprised to see it is mumsnet.

There has been a lot of backlash against this new hate bill.

It really does have the air of a ransom note. Is that the vibe they were going for?

The whole series was really poor. Nobody self identifies as a bigot and would have a sudden Damascene conversion based on a passive aggressive poster. Like nobody ever stopped leaving mouldy mugs lying round in the office kitchen, no matter how many notes someone put up saying “Dear Colleagues, please kindly leave this kitchen as you found it and WASH YOUR MUGS” 😂

(No, I do not think being homophobic and not washing your mug are the same)

Sadly, this is just typical of the mindless virtue signalling of the SNP, while they try to push through this incredibly dystopian police state legislation. Did you know the bill even covers “hate speech” in your own home?

I’d love to see an episode of 999 What’s Your Emergency where the caller shouts down the phone that someone’s just misgendered them in the pub.

BTW, can someone explain to me what FWR is please?

If they add misogyny onto the hate bill I get my life savings, nothing much Tbf, that the first case will be a TW

OP, this ad (and a couple of other similar ones) showed up on my fb feed, clearly they're trying to have a push on it as the current legislation is so unpopular. What was amusing was the ratio - most people are very clear on what the implications are, and are not having it.

all SquishySquirmy apparently there is a link between the effect of feminism in the 70’s on some men and the proliferation of rapist serial killers.

A real bigot or racist I guess then will be even more triggered with these ads. However, what they call racist or transphobic nowadays would have most people in jail.

I keep getting Bentley ads. Would that I could afford one!
For a while I was getting 18-30 all male gay cruises ads. I don't fit any of those demographics.

That is a terrible advert. Once again it comes across as "Because we disagree with you, you are less than human."
That mindset has never worked no matter how noble you think your cause may be. Perhaps a better slogan would be "Our bigotry is politically sanctioned so shut up." It's honest.

What annoys me most is the utter pointless of this “advert”.

It’s virtue signalling guff ! Whose it supposed to appeal to? What point is it supposed to make?

Will it make anyone stop and go “oh well Im definitely going to rethink this now?”

The one on the radio is awful too. Did they actual pay for it? It's something like 'dear haters, we're coming for you'.....

Unlike the Max Mara ones which are breaking down my resistance to buying another dress I don't need.
