Hello people,
Did you know that ejaculators began ejaculating at some age x in the past, now it is at age y?

I am so tired of this crap.

Are they still only accepting women exist in developing countries?

@EdgeOfACoin

Are these all American organisations?

I think the first is the American branch of La Leche League, the second a Canadian organisation.

All this is happening because women are expected to be inclusive and kind, as a default. So I have begun writing and complaining every time I see something of this sort. The La Leche League USA does not tell us how to contact them, however, so the international one gets my complaint. (I have form letters ready...)

What do menstruators even look like? A sort of bloated, blobby mass that plops out menses & babies, while transwomen get on with womening?

Yes. Women have to push back or this will carry on.

I was on holiday last week and promised myself a total SM break. I did have one or two little lapses but for the most part it was peaceful and relaxing and I was engrossed in JKR's Troubled Blood and doing holiday stuff. Yesterday I was back on Twitter. It felt like stepping into a new dystopia, discovering the nightmare was even worse than I remembered.

War on women indeed.

Yesterday was bizarre on Twitter.

It was truly awful. Lots of us felt the same. Not sure why it ramped up this time, but it’s the first time in a while that I felt it might be necessary to post in the reinstated mental health thread.

Canada. Of course the FemCare lot were in Canada. The country which made #waxmyballs possible when it made gender expression and gender identity "protected grounds [in] the Canadian Human Rights Act, and also [added them] to the Criminal Code provisions dealing with hate propaganda, incitement to genocide, and aggravating factors in sentencing." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Act_to_amend_the_Canadian_Human_Rights_Act_and_the_Criminal_Code

A Canadian women's rights group, caWsbar, has been demanding to see the "gender-based analysis" (well, sex-based impact assessment) carried out on C-16. Was one carried out, one wonders? Canadian politicians stonewall all who ask for the GBA... Hmm

I always think of the film Carrie when I hear the term menstruators.

Uh oh! The W word slipped through in that second one, someone’s off to The Gulag for that fuck up!

Given the systematic muddying of health statistics by asking about 'gender' instead of sex, the depression stats may well now be 'women' rather than actual women (adult human females). Hmm

As someone who has PCOS (or had... it may have abated since meno) one of the main symptoms I had, which was a very serious issue when TTC, was not menstruating, or at least very rarely und unpredictably. Labelling women with PCOS as 'menstruators' is unkind and unfeeling. I'm pretty sure that their rates of depression are unrelated (or possibly inversely related) to their ability to menstruate.Hmm

Report
ErrolTheDragon · 26/10/2020 09:19

I've just checked, in general menopause doesn't end PCOS. Is that comment re depression really only in relation to the subgroup of women with PCOS who do menstruate?
All this avoidance of 'woman' is bad but that one gets worse the more I think about it.

Bizarre. Humans are not the only species who menstruate, so one could easily presume they're talking about apes and monkeys, elephant shrews or bats.

And they're reducing their target audience to the one in four of us who are menstruating at any one time. Definitely not talking to post-menopausal women, are they?

Also, I just find throwaway did you knows without source or detail bloody annoying. Because while, yes, the median age for girls to get their period is about 12 and a half now, that median has actually been fairly stable for decades now. The reason for this earlier onset lies in better health, better access to food and better nutrition which together mean that today's girls reach the weight necessary for menarche to set in much sooner.

But what can you expect from a group that dehumanises women and girls like this. Each and every single company that buys into this language also buys into the destruction of women and girls as a distinctive biological and political class. That is the end result of this practice.

It's okay to accept that women and girls exist. It's alright to use our name when talking about biological functions only the female-bodied can experience. It's a dire state of affairs when organisations dedicated to these exclusively female experiences take the extreme outliers as the norm. One in 34,000 adult women have sex dysphoria. Up to one in 100 has gender dysphoria, which may or may not include rejecting her female body and/or it's functions. So 99% of us must lose our name for this small number of women, who could, after all, be easily included by additional words.

There was an article I read a while back that bemoaned the fact that only 5% of articles about menstruation focused on the experiences of women and girls who identify as trans. (I'm sure that percentage is much higher now.) It hadn't occurred to the writer that this was an at least five-fold overrepresentation of this group. Made me wonder what percentage would be deemed sufficient. I guess the answer is quite clear now...

Have a think about "human milk feeding families" and what that means. It means milk extraction from human females to be provided to others for their use.

Fucking ridiculous

Years and years ago i worked in a bank when the plain English campaign really got going

We had to go through all our literature and letters etc and make them as easy to understand as humanly possible

What the hell happened?

Its like when you have to do a 1000 word essay and you fill it with as many words as you can cos you can’t think of anything to actually say!

Have a think about "human milk feeding families" and what that means. It means milk extraction from human females to be provided to others for their use.

I think it was probably supposed to mainly be mothers who pump wholly or in part - who are, I believe, a significant proportion especially in the US with their woeful lack of maternity leave. And I suppose its meant to include families with premature babies who use milk banks from donors. Those are surely groups worth mentioning properly in their own right as they have specific needs for support. Instead they've come up with this incredibly awkward construction (which could include the hopefully rare practice in a few societies of men drinking breast milk, prioritising themselves over their own babies) which is in terms of the consumer rather than the producer ... an element of woman as dairy stock. Confused
