Great thanks- sending that on to various Labour MPs

Kier will do precisely nothing.

Doesn't want to rock the boat. Hasn't the balls or the inclination to stand up for the female members of his party.

Not a moment too soon. I notice lots of union reps signing, so the declaration by the TUC doesn't seem to represent all members, odd that Smile

I’m a Tory, but I’ve signed it because women’s rights transcend party politics. Also, we need a strong opposition for our political system to function, and a weak, trans appeasing, virtue signalling Labour party, losing all its women voters, cannot fill that role.

The boat's already rocking.

Agree, Kit. He's spineless, in all the choices he is making at the moment.

I've signed the declaration linked below, but can't work out how to sign this statement specifically - am I being thick?

The terribly controversial statement says:

1. Women and girls are subject to discrimination and oppression on the basis of their sex.

2. Women have the right to freedom of belief, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly (Articles 18, 19 and 20 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights).

3. Women have the right to discuss policies which affect them, without being abused, harassed or intimidated.

4. Women have the right to maintain their sex-based protections, as set out in the Equality Act 2010. These include female-only spaces such as changing rooms, hospital wards, sanitary and sleeping accommodation, refuges, hostels and prisons.

5. Women have the right to participate in single-sex sports, to ensure fairness and safety at all levels of competition.

6. Women have the right to organise themselves, as a sex, across a range of cultural, leisure, educational and political activities.

7. We condemn all attempts to undermine or limit the rights of women to self-organise and call on the Labour Party and the trades union movement to actively support these essential freedoms.

Labour regards this as hate speech. Saying that women are human, and have rights, including the right to a voice, is deemed hate speech. Their leadership candidates were asked to sign a statement terming it that, and further committing to expelling anyone who expresses these views from the party.

I genuinely don't understand how any woman can vote for them, looking at this, and seeing their reaction and what they did and are doing to Rosie Duffield, just for asserting that women are human beings. Her courage is extraordinary - and what a dystopia we now inhabit, that basic feminism is seen as shocking, and expressing it gets women kicked off and out of most online spaces, and a major political party?

Karen Ingala Smith has dedicated her life to women's provision and recovery from male violence. Yet for writing this piece and presenting it to Parliament, she has been banned from Labour party membership.

It's entrenching male supremacy as a moral crusade. How women stand for this, far less cheerlead it it on as some do, is simply beyond me.

I haven't signed as I am not British, don't live in the UK, and not a LP member (and never was). But it's great to see you all coming together,.

@wellbehavedwomen brings home how much ground we've lost when any of that can be regarded as controversial.

Excellent point by babdoc.

Reading through the comments of people who have signed the petition, it strikes me that they should be sent to Labour Party HQ.

Ah, but it's not what it says it's what it means Obviously a transphobic dog whistle as it uses "women" and "sex".

On the subject of Labour's response to this issue, I thought this was a good recent blog post:
labour-uncut.co.uk/2020/10/11/we-need-to-talk-about-where-the-trans-self-id-debate-is-taking-labour/

"We can debate all you like about what should be the criterion which allows a man to be re-labelled as a woman, or vice versa. The quite reasonable objection is whether anyone should be able to decide that themselves, unilaterally. Why? Because any legal categorisation which depends on people self-identifying as being in that category is open to abuse, and therefore unworkable in practice."

Labour, as it stands at the moment, is a lost cause.
The Greens are dead in the water for the same reason.
Liberal Democrats - ha.

I just don't know what is going to happen - it's great that this declaration is doing so well, but unless they become a political party in their own right, what will they achieve? I'd love that they could re-take Labour and sort this whole godforsaken mess out - but I don't see how, the money is all behind the transcult.

@Offtothedogs the statement is from the Labour Women's Declaration Working Group. We wanted to show our support for Rosie Duffield in light of the glaringly obvious lack of support from Labour leadership and MPs. Thank you for signing our Declaration.

Thanks LWD. Solidarity with you and with Rosie.

Keir Starmer needs to stand up for women and girls against this campaign of harassment and silencing. So far there's no sign of the honorable leadership we were promised. In fact, on this issue, there's no leadership at all.

I hope it will be sent to the leaders of the party and they will change direction or at least condemn the treatment that Rosie has suffered.
Id like to be able to vote in the next election.
