Is there another platform they are active on? I deleted my Twitter account because it’s a cesspool of hatred.

Wishing this group all the best. This is important for GC people everywhere to support too. Ireland’s model is often pointed to as somewhere where everyone is fine with the GRA there....

Yes. They are very courageous. That homicidal male who wants to kill and rape 'people with a cervix' seems to know that women are a class all of their own. The homicidal male stated a desire to be put amongst them; in a place where they are trapped and vulnerable and the Irish TD's and Senators obliged. In the name of freedom for men . The objection to the word for 'mná' na hÉireann seems to be that it is exclusive this freedom for men.

If anything happens to any women because of the legislation introduced to give carte blanche to men's sexual rights based on the tenuous wish list element of 'gender identity' (whatever the f*ck that is) wish list in the Yogyakarta Principles, then they are complicit. In any and every event.

Maybe the Irish language could be used as an extra shield. Bean and Mná. Lambast anyone who tries to erase any word from a language which is in danger of extinction.

Hope they stay strong and set themselves up to fundraise. They don't have to reinvent the wheel on some things, pick up what works/worked from other women's groups who are standing up for women elsewhere.

Good to hear women are organising against this misconceived law. Best of luck to you, sisters.

Madam Butterfly - I’m not on FB. It might be worth letting them know about this board (If they don’t already) as a resource to post campaigns /updates etc - esp with the many lurkers.

It would be great for them to have their own website, so they can't be effed about by misogynistic broader social media.

They should definitely do some merchandise in Irish! If anyone objects to the word for woman (Bean) and women (Mná) in Irish, they can do one. It is literally advocating erasure of words in a language in danger of extinction!

👏👏👏👏
The Repeal movement succeeded because it had the backing of mná na hÉireann. This will be the same.

I'd buy a Woman = Adult Human Female t-shirt if it was in Irish.

Unfortunately my Irish doesn't stretch to a translation, but I can ask for permission to go to the toilet and recite the Hail Mary. Smile

I have submitted a request to join. Just wondering how they will screen people though as I'm sure there will be a few trolls.

What is darkly amusing about this...the amount of TRA's whining and blaming the British for all of this. Like having access to a British website is corrupting the innocent Irish who, if kept deprived of information would meekly swallow the Kool Aid. It's like the Catholic 1950s when McQuaid , Dev and their crew tried desperately to keep out any foreign influences for fear it would corrupt us (Comely maidens dancing at the crossroads:). It's ironic to see those who proclaim themselves as super woke and educated effectively advocate the same approach. Saw a great tweet from Rhonda Praisley recently. "Many Irish women are republicans. We remember that it was our UK sisters who met us off the boats, trains and buses & supported us through our medical procedures in the U.K. when our own country disowned us. It’s insulting to and so typical of a certain mindset then to find white males, newly landed on our shores, lashing the fadas , Darby O’Gill style, all over the place and freely using the term ‘Tan’ to discredit and demean U.K people, especially women"

That daft dirty bird or whatever they are called has produced a map showing where the followers of this new account are located. Quite a few in the UK.
It's all a far right plot, apparently.

I'm getting concerned about the conflation of GC with the bloody far right then I remind myself that everyone is bloody far right to these people.

I emailed them, they asked for name, address, email & phone. Said they’re mobilising at the moment & will be in touch soon.

If they start a GoFundMe I will definitely contribute! And yes we should protect the Irish language. I love how the words for husband and wife literally mean ' together man ' and ' together woman's. Works if you are gay or straight
