Start using Mumsnet PremiumStella creasy asks women about misogyny
(76 Posts)But apparently we did it all wrong!
“Tell me about misogyny- no not like that!!!”
And this is why Labour are going to have to do so much better to get my vote back
FFS. Tone deaf as usual. Shes fully TWAW (or at least pretending to be) so I'm not interested in any of the Great Feministing shes doing
"Women, tell me about your oppression and your daughter's oppression"
"I'm worries that my daughter will be in danger in her sport because it allows men to compete as women against her"
"No, not that oppression, the other one"
And yes - Labour will be in the wilderness for so long if they continue to police women about what we are allowed to speak about. So depressing.
The shock on the faces of certain people when the "Red walls" fell the last time.
Old man OJ was apoplectic with rage when 'the plebs' didn't vote as he smugly expected them to last time.

#WomensVotes

Etc
"Tell me all about your experience of misogyny. I want to do a real time demonstration of how women are dismissed and men are centred in all their glory."
Perfectly put Floral.
I don't know what has got into Stella. How can any feminist woman take the view that women are a costume or a performance?
I like the way "feminists" was put in inverted commas.
Labour just don't listen do they? Stella Creasy was insulting and patronising to the women that responded (because they didn't respond the way she wanted them to) then she blocked them. If she can't listen to what people who have voted for her to represent them, then she is in the wrong job. That goes for all MPs. Some forget they are there to be a voice to the people.
Angela Rayner blocked me when I questioned her support for men accessing and taking women's officer roles. Regardless of the issues, the optics of Labour women blocking women raising concerns are terrible.
Thanks for sharing imnobody4. How could any feminist worth her salt dismiss that point? It could not be more relevant to women's situation today. I'm sick to death of women like SC and AR painting themselves as great courageous advocates for women but crumbling at the first whisper of female biology and BLOCKING anyone who challenges or questions them. Its cowardly, self serving bullshit and they should be ashamed. That goes for you too Keir Starmer
The real enemy here is the patriarchy, not other women in all their glory
Does she mean ‘other’ women in all their penile glory next to women and girls?
And she doesn’t think that is the patriarchy??!!
Labour is a joke.
Sorry I'm on a roll..... the bloody NERVE of her asking women to be brave and come forward and share their stories while shes running scared from maybe one of the biggest threats we face
they can't define patriarchy. they can't define male pattern violence. I have no respect for them.

I saw a recent interview with Angela Raynor say in a YouTube news channel, Telegraph I think, where she was saying that Labour failed to listen to the people.
They are still failing the listen.
I’m a lifelong Tory, but we need a credible opposition party for political balance. The way Labour are treating women, Britain will have a Tory government indefinitely, which is not healthy.
Parties become stale and complacent or veer to extremism without a counterweight from the other side of the political spectrum. For all our sakes, I hope Starmer shows more courage than he has so far in reining in the TRAs attack on women’s rights, and gets back to Labour’s core values.
They can’t define woman so what is the point
Stella is dangerous. She is not only failing to listen to what women are telling her about misogyny (and this not listening is why Labour lost) but she is ‘Othering’ the women who spoke out. They aren’t her women, they are evil terfs invading her lovely space. Hers is an attitude that treats other people as lesser human beings, not worthy of respect or consideration. She is creating an environment in which it is ok to punch these lesser human beings who aren’t worthy of respect.
All wrapped in a lovely accessible feminist exterior.
I see you, Stella.
Shes gotta be trolling ?!
What is the point if woman/girl is anyone.
I don't understand how they don't get this.
Saying omg about FGM or no access to abortion. Then saying women/ girls can be male or female and bio sex is irrelevant.
The 'solution' of calling us uterus havers, menstruators etc is totally dehumanising. But interestingly when it comes to things like abortion or fgm they are in the main quite happy to use women/ girls. It's nonsensical.
I have zero respect for the women who are pushing this shit.
Staying silent is bad enough, but actively silencing other women for speaking the truth? Fuck off.
I confess I laughed when I heard starmer say his party was prepared to listen to all voices. I then told the radio that he would only listen to those with a penis or who believed women had penises. Either way, it was all about the peenies. So, nothing will change.
This move by Stella Creasy makes a mockery of any talk of change.

I came on here to see if anyone had posted about this issue - and this quote sums it up for me.
How can any woman support men before women and call herself a feminist? And then ask women to vote for her? Does she think we have all had lobotomies???
