Silencing of women online

Some of the topics discussed here lead to us revealing personal details that have caused us trauma. Deletion of those posts especially at the behest of someone who would never have suffered that trauma feels abusive tbh.

More and more I'm taking this discussion offline.

I came here as someone who was a trans ally but getting uneasy with what the activists I was following on twitter were saying (and I was starting to accept my personal experience with TW in real life might be more commonplace than I thought). They (unintentionally) signposted me to here at a time when discussion was allowed.

I'm grateful for this board and the many eloquent and intelligent posters on it.

But the more I am silenced the more I am donating to the crowdjustice campaigns, changing my shopping habits and generally taking the discussion offline as well as it shows the magnitude of the problem women are facing.

I'm chalking the GRA not including self id as a success and encouraged by that success I will be becoming more outspoken when I see companies not respecting women's rights.

Bit of a rambling post but having exposed a very painful part of my life here today to have my words deleted even though they broke no rules I'm feeling too sad and angry to rework this to be more coherent

The silencing of women in today's society is abhorrent. A lot of us are taking action in the same way as you, and it is starting to have effects, like the stop put on self-id, and the review into nhs gender services for children which were both announced yesterday. Fundraising, voting with your purse and raising awareness are all important and valuable actions. Keep talking.

This is not easy surrogacy and for some it is a very painful path. I know there will be a time when your posts wont be deleted but right now there are people out there who don't care about the pain, only about shutting down.

Stay strong and stay safe flowers

I didn't see your post but I'm sorry it was deleted thanks These are challenging times.

I saw your post on the other thread surrogacy

flowers you are seen by women here.

But yes, it fucking hurts to be reminded, again and again, how we live in a man's world. It hurts that we have to expose our hurt in order to plead to be treated as equally, fully human. It hurts when we are left exposed, dismissed, silenced.

If anyone is under any doubt as to the extent of male privilege, and of how other axis (axes? axises?) of oppression don't tend to negate it, then this morning's events should put that to rest.

Sadly, the silencing even extends to this fwr board on MN, where TRA trolls report anything they don’t like, and attempt to get you deleted for stating biological facts.
I’m a retired doctor, and I’ve had posts deleted for simply expressing safeguarding concerns about children and teens.
However, we are beginning to prevail. You have only to look at the ratios on Twitter to feel greatly heartened. Where a year ago there would be simpering support for destroying women’s rights in the name of wokeness, there is now fury and outrage. People have realised what is going on. The hidden institutional capture, and lobbying behind closed doors, is all being exposed. Sunlight is a great disinfectant.

Totally feel it too. I read lots on both sides this morning and the reason for deletion is shoddy given it was publicly strewn all over Twitter.

Knew someone would come along and put how I feel into better words

Thank-you star

I'm sorry surrogacy flowers It's happening too often here.

A while ago, brave women opened up about trauma they'd suffered in mental health facilities at the hands of men, really harrowing stuff that I think everyone should have read it. It was a real eye opener, and I'd never have imagined stuff like that goes on if not for those posters opening up. MN pulled the whole thread instead of deleting ''problematic'' posts sad

I don't know if it was because of outside pressure that time, but they really do seem to delete posts because snooping men don't like what women are talking about here. They should fuck off and not look at a feminist board where women talk about issues that affect WOMEN if they're too fragile for it. It's pathetic.

I saw your post surrogacy - it was really moving. I wish MN would give some warning that they're going to delete a whole thread so that posts which aren't contentious but actually brilliant and beautiful, can be saved.

I know they do that before they delete a thread by a banned poster so I don't know why they don't seem able to do that with threads in FWR
