Prostate cancer ad on radio

Uses the word men multiple times. Even ends with "Men - we're with you"
Don't women get prostate cancer too? What about them? Just saying "people" would be more inclusive, surely?

Yes the fact that woman/ girl/ female are the words that must have their meaning altered/ not be uttered is telling.

Exactly. And no one seems to care much.

Hello worried. Glad you're having fun! What's the joke?

Report
worriedwellworrier · 14/09/2020 23:06

Eh seriously? This is joke yes?

StealthPolarBear · 14/09/2020 23:23

It's as much of a joke as the uterus havers needing smears.

I think I must be missing something here. You know women can’t get prostate cancer as they don’t have a prostate right?

Some women have a prostate. Don't be cissexist.

@Ereshkigalangcleg

Some women have a prostate. Don't be cissexist.

And nonbinary people can also have prostates! This radio ad is not inclusive.

I'd agree worried but that kind of talk the other way round can get you sacked or get the police checking your thinking.

Look - we all know ‘the rules’. Not sure best way to approach it (complain? Demand ‘person’?) or just highlight the hypocrisy.

Highlighting hypocrisy will get you nowhere.
It's the transphobic call that gets addressed.

They need to say men and transwomen.

But I don't care enough to complain. It's the other lot I want to complain about/to. The ones erasing women and saying people have abortions and get hysterectomies.

They should be using clear English and not erasing women and girls.

Yes exactly.

But when they receive complaints they talk about being inclusive etc etc. Clearly the prostate cancer lot care less about that.

Maybe it’s just grown ups and in charge who think ‘ffs - this is cancer we are talking about - saving lives... we are not playing silly games here, this is real people!’

It's absolutely ridiculous that issues around medicine, physical health, and disease prevention and awareness need to tiptoe around transgender ideology nonsense. But of course we know it only happens where women (real ones obvs) are concerned.

People who menstruate
Pregnant people
People with a cervix, vulva/uterus
Etc....

But men who get prostate cancer.
