Start using Mumsnet PremiumIt seems LGB Alliance USA is joining with UK LGBA
(41 Posts)twitter.com/LGBAlliance_USA I hope his links ok. If not, could someone more competent do another one
I think this is good news, not just for lesbians but for all GC women.
Their list of concerns are great
I read their list of concerns and felt profoundly moved at their compassion and reason.
It looks as though lots of other countries might be joining at some point. I always knew their would be a movement pop out of this but couldn't see where it was going to come from. I'm hetero but joined LGB Alliance a few months ago and encouraged other women to do the same.
I'm really hoping this is the one
How did you join highame? LGB Alliance doesn't have members.
Sorry, mixed up with something else. Get their newsletter which is really good
I wonder why they never seemed to take off? I mean the name is awful of course and the less said about the relentless self-owning of their social media the better but I mean just generally. I only ever read about it on here or from themselves. I’ve never spoken to a soul that gives much of a toss about them either way.
It’s like they don’t really exist. For 2 years it’s a lousy show.
I was really heartened when I saw this.

You've either been living under a rock Lis, or your determination to minimise women's success is getting a little silly.
Allison Bailey is in the process of suing Stonewall and her support is so great she met her crowd funder almost instantly.
Still, it's always good to get the opportunity to show more people. So thanks for that.

LGBA UK only formed in October so less than a year ago. Or do you mean the US organisation? I admit I'd not heard about them but I don't recall reading about them on Mumsnet.

Frankly I wish she had legal grounds for suing Crowdfunder as well. What a complete shitshow they turned that into.

And yet they are doing a great deal. They have been discussing their issues with different government groups, they have helped start groups in at least 3 other countries to support protection of same sex rights. Those of lesbians and gay people.
Why do you equate success to who is the loudest and preens in attention? If they are successful in meeting the policy makers and enacting the protections they have formed to get, I’d rate that success for the 10 months they have been going.
Who is behind the LGB Alliance USA organization?
@BadhbhCatha
A small group of LGB people from all over the US with support from Bev, Kate and the LGB alliance UK
Yes, Who are the LGB People from all over the US who are involved? The people who are the Facebook admins?
You want me to name them? Why?
Because groups ought to be transparent. The LGB Alliance has made some pretty homophobic statements and taken some homophobic positions, so I'd like to evaluate whether this is a real effort or just more astroturf.

You could always ask them.
No, I can't. They blocked me on Twitter even though I have never interacted with them.

Wow. More homophobic than saying homosexuality isn't same sex attraction which is Stonewall's position. Please link to these statements so we can share your horror.

Oh well. Maybe try writing a letter?
They blocked you on Twitter so you can’t join the Facebook group or send the Facebook page a message?
I don’t think anonymously popping up on mumsnet will get you the answers you’re looking for, but if you’re in the States totally feel free to join an help us steer it in the right direction.
Also if you pm me your twitter handle I can check what happened and ask them to unblock you.
I would also be interested to know what the “homophobic statements” were? That’s quite an accusation to throw around.
I mean, I don't think I need to say one is less homophobic so it's cool. LOL
