LGB Alliance talk to Glinner

Following the Abigail Shrier video, Glinner spoke to Kate Harris and Bev Jackson, co-founders of the LGB Alliance.

I think it's such a shame they don't get wider coverage.

That was very good. Worth a watch.

this is so worth a watch. Interesting and shocking that the only people who consistently refuse to talk to them are labour MPs

That struck me as well.

Thanks for linking to that. So much has been said about the LGB Alliance and the word hate has been bandied about. It was fascinating to see where they’ve come from and exactly what they’re about. Two articulate stalwarts of Feminism - it’s a tragedy they have been so demonised.

I can imagine believers of gender identity politics would be appalled at what they’re saying but only because it is a challenge to their belief system. But that’s the crux isn’t it - a belief system has become the orthodoxy, the ‘word’ and all examination, criticism, questioning of it has become the ‘heresy’ of transphobia. Any movement that will not allow healthy debate and discussion is to be mistrusted. That’s not how democracy works. I really hope more politicians engage with the LGB Alliance and see what they’re about even if they don’t think they share their beliefs. The LGB Alliance need to be at the table.

Thanks Glinner for giving them a platform to get their message across. Closed minds probably won’t even bother to listen (or even find the video in their ‘blocked’ bubbles’) but it only takes a few people to watch from outside their comfort zones for things to shift. I hope this happens.

That's bad news. Has Labour actually overtaken the LibDems and Green in misogyny?

I'd say it was a close call, maybe we need a survey monkey Confused

I wish there was a way to secure responses from MPs, so many seem to simply ignore emails or approaches, whether they don't know how to respond or simply CBA.

Without detailing my own thread, does anyone know what the escalation method is? I think MPs are expected to send emails onto Ministers or Departments if requested, but I guess they can just ignore those requests too!

Yes, the LGB Alliance are actually the only moderate voice trying to hold the middle ground. I'm not aware of any others anyway.

I remember hearing Posie P on This Morning and if Bev and Kate could just get into the mainstream media (ok not with Eamon and Ruth) I'd expect there to be a wider section of audiences to not only be made aware, if they had missed it so far, but to be nodding along.

It doesn't shock me at all, sadly. After the shitshow with the trans pledges and the way Rosie Duffield was treated it's painfully clear that Labour has no intention to listen to anyone other than a select group of (LGB)T spokespersons and their networks. They won't listen to Labour women, but they'll listen to someone like Challenor who isn't even a party member but somehow had a hand in the disciplinary action against Lord Moonie Hmm

I watched this - usually I watch videos and get cross and frustrated as there is so little I can do. But these two are old hands at campaigning. They do fill you with hope and confidence, and they are a joy to watch.

It's a fantastic video, I only wish more were getting to hear the calm reasoned arguments they present.
Thanks to Glinner for setting this up.

Lord Moonie is now banned from Twitter but this is what he said at the time:

Lewis Moonie
@ Moonie_l
Ok folks, a short thread.

  1. On Monday I had a long conversation with my chief whip.

I refused to cancel the meeting I’d agreed to chair today.
On Tuesday, I was told I was to be suspended from membership of the party, and resigned. (Happy coincidence)

  1. There followed a minor storm on Twitter, with likes in the thousands, retweets and sympathetic comments in the hundreds.
  2. Again, purely by chance, an email to the Labour Party by Aimée Challenor, referring to a Facebook post I had commented on was released.

  1. I invite you to draw your own conclusions as to whether this is happy coincidence or an organised attempt to smear me by the Labour Party.

Oh, one more thing. A party official had already sensibly told Challenor politely to get lost. This was overruled by the new compliance officer. A deliberate attempt to get at me by resurrecting old complaints already dealt with.

I really miss Lewis Moonie’s tweets. He was a top notch swear bear and funny with it. Twitter are fools if they keep banning all the entertaining accounts.

Great interview and wonderful women. Thanks for posting OP. Interesting point about the tactics of TRAs being the same pattern as presents with violent men whose partners leave them.
I am also now thinking I need to talk to DD's school and find out what they are going to be telling her. Just feels surreal that I have to worry about my child's school telling the children they can change sex. What have we come to?
This is the issue I ended my Labour party membership over and I know I'm not alone. Completely swallowing all this nonsense. I am so glad Keir Starmer got leadership. I liked Emily Thornberry and (as far as I know) she hasn't signed up to this crap...Once she was out the running I am glad a proper grown up with some critical thinking skills won. I was pleasantly surprised by him, then disappointed over his silence about Rosie Duffield and the abuse she got.
I have written to my Labour MP twice about this with no reply. Interestingly, the first time I wrote to him - about Dominc Cummings and his trip to Bernard Castle -he was fairly quick to reply. Standing up for Rosie Duffield or how he proposes to safeguard children against wrong 'uns abusing the system if self ID comes in, or whether trans rights trump the rights of those with religious conservative beliefs... those issues he has not replied on.
