Another timely story questioning the appropriateness of the police aligning with - and spending on - political lobby groups.

It's a good question about the funding. What does any police force really get out of paying for... whatever they get from Stonewall?

I will say that the amount they suggest was spent since 2017 is not really so much in terms of all the police forces in the nation.

The question of political neutrality by police, health workers, etc is one that needs to be really thought about, because it's become directly opposed to what many people now consider moral behaviour.

Do they champion any other causes? Do they campaign for disability rights, celebrate IWD or wear lanyards for each religion's holy days?

I agree the rainbow flag is now a political statement and Pride has lost it's original meaning and is now a commercial operation.

I agree. The real issue is the workload it causes to individual police forces, and, as you say, what they get in return - other than misleading information about the Equality Act. And even if the information given by Stonewall was accurate, are they the best source for that kind of advice, when their sole focus is LGBT rights?
For comparison, how much does the police spend on disability consultancy services?

I wonder if they asked for the cost of paying for training / conferences? There's a group of very expensive trainers selling their personal stories to groups like the Police as a tool to persuade them to monitor and arrest people who believe in facts and science?
It would be fascinating to see compare and contrast much the police spend on training in the other protected characteristics?
