Start using Mumsnet PremiumDiversity survey - guess what is missing!
(20 Posts)Aberdeen City is undertaking a survey of equality but they seem have missed something, guess which protected characteristic is missing (and which gets only a single mention):

Sorry "none of these"
I had one of these at work. I answered 'prefer not to say' to every question, and then said gender is not a protected characteristic under the Equality Act in the text box.
I saw it as a waste of time if they couldn't get that right. It was anonymous though.
It's pointless, isn't it?
I had 'sex' mansplained back to me as gender in conversation recently. Really irritating.
Scottish Athletics have a similar survey running where they quote the Equality Act then get the protected characteristics wrong and dont bother to ask any questions about sex.So good that sexism no longer happens in Scotland. Oh wait...
Alan Hennessey on Twitter frequently reminds organisations about the correct data to ask for and that asking for more may contravene GDPR. Could you forward it into him?

I would but I am not on twitter.
'We have used simple English for the questions, but if you are finding it difficult to understand, please contact info@grec.co.uk'
Perhaps worth emailing...
@Bluebell246 could you send me a link to the Scottish Athletics one.. perhaps they also need reminding of the contents of the Equality Act.
@ChateauMargaux
It may have already been pointed out to them. The intro to the survey seems to have sex added. It wasnt before. And the email it came with didn't include sex either. It said.
"Your cooperation in helping us to gather this monitoring information will greatly aid our efforts to ensure that all staff / coaches / jog leaders / officials / board / members / participants are treated fairly regardless of age, gender, race, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or belief.
Without this data, it will not be possible to identify any current areas of under-representation or potential inequalities, and as such, it will make it much more difficult for us to tackle these issues. This work is being carried out as part of our responsibilities under the Equality Act, 2010 and as part of the accreditation process for the Equality Standard for Sport. scottishathletics were proud to achieve the Advanced Level in July 2019."
No sex question though... only gender, ethnicity, are your trans...
I was delighted to discover that there's room for a short essay when you start typing — no word count, apparently. So I've put them right on a number of things including sex-not-gender and protected characteristics .
Can’t you just write and complain that you feel that this survey has discriminated against you as a woman on the basis of sex?
I wrote them an essay on how by dropping sex from protected characteristics, they were discriminating against me as a woman.
Wow - what a crock.
Is there any kind of standards or ethics role or committee within the council that you could complain to - for excluding sex as a protected characteristic and for wasting money as they will need to redo the survey to capture views regarding sex - or are they proposing ignoring just one protected characteristic? And if they are, why is that? Etc etc...
They seem to have changed it to ‘sex or gender’ which better than gender alone though not perfect.
Gender is worthless. Might as well ask star sign or underwear colour preference.
