I have previously encountered a pack of quite elderly and highly socially connected goths/alternative people. They were willing if not eager to relentlessly hound a less powerful person on the edge of their group, humiliating and victimising them over a period of weeks. This latterly included messages encouraging suicide but orchestrated in such a way that they could retain deniability if something happened.

It seemed to be more of a group bonding activity or blood sport rather than a conversion attempt, since apologies just led to escalation. I really hope this one is different somehow. Anyone else noticed any sort of pattern? (If that makes sense?)

It's absolutely a cult, plus a kind of mass social hysteria. I'm starting to think it offers a massive distraction from the real problems in the world, like climate change. If you're outraged about pronouns, you're not thinking about how your whole future is rapidly going down the drain.
