It's still OK to say 'men' on tena products 😡

I took this photo in a pharmacy yesterday - I almost laughed at how big the word 'men' was on the packaging, and yet none of the other products dared say they were for women.
The obvious double standard just makes me so angry - the attempted erasure of the word 'woman' is just so obvious here.

Never mind associated with. Men are demanding the word women for themselves and if they can't have it then they are making sure no one can.

They want to make sure they are included within everything hence why they remove the word women from everything. Its to remind us even our name is only a courtesy that can be revoked whenever men want

I'm in two minds here.

Their Facebook account is Tena Women. The cover photo is a black mature lady.

Their website clearly talks about women and ladies.

From a quick look 50% of facebook marketplace tena products for sale have the word lady on the front of the packaging in big letters.

I think their subtle rebrand to tena instead of tena lady was before TRAs started demanding that women's products remove the word women from their packaging, and is in line with what brands tend to do when they become well known household names.

I get that removal of the word women from products is a thing, and that it's a problem, but I don't think that Tena is a brand to get worried about.

Articles about period poverty not mentioning the word women or girls once.

Action aid just a day or 2 ago announcing there is no such thing as a biologically female body

Constant references to cervix havers or menstruatorsor people who have periods.

The word women not appearing in cervical cancer literature while prostate cancer mentions man/men repeatedly

I have just looked on their website too and lady / women are mentioned all over it. Their products are divided into women, men, family carers, children. Of all the brands out there erasing women, I am not convinced this is one of them.

Interestingly though I can't find a UK twitted page but their is a tena man twitter page and a tena USA twitrer page which mentions women in the occasional retweet of someone else.

it is an issue because language matters. The way language is used shapes the way we think about the world.

Effectively forbidding or re-configuring language that is used to describe women, purely to reflect the purposes, feelings and intentions of another group - is an act of colonisation. It suggests that female integrity is of less value, and that women must always have to make room for the definitions of others.

It is profoundly oppressive. in fact the whole TRA agenda is an act of colonisation.

Tampons and pads are used by women and girls (and transmen and non binary females, as we are being inclusive) who are young enough to still menstruate- a different demographic maybe?

Could Tena simply be looking at their customer base and using language for them rather?

It is the same with using the word CIS. If you are trans and comfortable in that, then there is nothing wrong with referring to yourself as what you are, which is TRANS. You don't get to re-name everyone else just to suit yourself or to validate yourself, or to centre yourself in the spaces that belong to another.

'Transwoman' and 'woman' is just fine, and it reflects reality.

It's not Tena particularly, it's that it is fine to say 'men' in big letters, but no other product on the aisle, all of which are for women's biological needs, are allowed to say 'women' on them.

It's about the word 'woman' meaning 'adult human female'.

I've been raging about this since the turn of the year when I first noticed in Sainsburys.
Its unbelievable how many companies are going along with this shit. The world is a bubbling cesspit of misogyny more now than ever. The breaking / turning point has to come soon I hope.

It's because they are making it clear that brand pack is directed to men as Tena is mainly associated with women and would be overlooked by guys. They are trying to make an obvious marketing choice. Nothing to do with Trans etc. Can you imagine our stupid it would be marketing tampons and having a blurb - "for women"!

I don't think this is an issue. The default in sanitary/incontinence wear is that it's for women. What man is going to want to buy ladies incontinence products? So they are making it clear that they do a product for men.

I guess the only issue will be for intact transwomen. They would benefit from the product that is designed for penises but won't want to buy the product that is tena men.

You say its obvious but kids are being taught that some people have periods then they may well grow up with no idea who actually has them.

Actionaid just a few weeks ago were asking fir donations for period kits for girls as in Kenya etc girls drop out of school as they cabtmanage their periods and they never get the chance to get out of poverty.

Now apparently there's no such thing as a female body.

I dont think you realise quite how confused and fucked up our kids are on the way to becoming because if accurate language not being acceptable
