Start using Mumsnet PremiumLumos: JK Rowling's charity for children
(5 Posts)Thank you Mumsnet I hadn't heard of Lumos before today!
Here's JK's life president page.
Maybe somewhere to donate when you feel the need to make a difference ?

Apologies MN if this is not allowed - intended to show JK's charitable work.
Her own charitable foundation, the Volant Trust (her mother's maiden name, apparently) has a focus on funding projects that support vulnerable women and children.
Victims of sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence and those working in the sex industry; care for young mothers and those affected by postnatal depression, isolated and lone parents; community support for black and minority ethnic women and asylum seekers; support services for women prisoners and their families.
I love her. She's amazing. Courage and kindness and honesty, and an unwavering commitment to do good in the world.
She wants to help women and girls and she knows what makes them female.
I hope many consider redirecting direct debits away from the big international corporate-type charities like Oxfam and ActionAid and send the cash to Lumos instead.
JKR is a shining light.
