More PN lies: Equalities minister Kemi Badenoch hints at changing the Equality Act to ‘protect single-sex spaces’ from trans people

I know we know they lie, but this article is one of many that seem to be being published each day with this lie about single sex spaces ie they already exist under the EA but trans activists want people to think they are having their right under mined.

The article was primarily about how wonderfully brave Ben Bradshaw MP was being in the face of this "transphobic" onslaught of the Government merely stating the reality of what the EA already allows.

But for info I have extracted all the quotes from Kemi Badenoch and left out the sycophantic contrived outrage from BB MP:

.
Minister for equalities Kemi Badenoch has suggested the government could change equalities law to “protect single-sex spaces” in a letter to Labour MP Ben Bradshaw about transgender rights.

Badenoch also said the Conservatives “want to ensure that under 18s are protected from taking decisions which could have an irreversible impact on their development before they are capable”.

The government remains “absolutely committed” to ensuring that under 18s “questioning their gender” receive “appropriate support”, Badenoch said in her June letter to Bradshaw.

Badenoch continued: “We also want to ensure that under 18s are protected from taking decisions which could have an irreversible impact on their development before they are capable.

“The current minimum age limit for legally changing gender is 18 years, which is set out in the Gender Recognition Act 2004 (GRA) itself.”

Badenoch added in her letter that “protecting young people” means “ensuring the appropriate checks and balances” are in place, and does not mean “withholding support”.

And she confirmed for the first time that the department for health and social care, “who lead in this area”, would be “exploring what this means”.

“The wellbeing of all young people is our number one priority,” Badenoch said.

“We have heard concerns that progressing the rights of transgender people should not have a detrimental effect on the rights of others, especially women,” Badenoch wrote.

“The government believes that the protection of certain single-sex spaces, as governed by the Equality Act 2010, is important.
“I can assure your constituent that any changes to the act – as with all legislation – would go through the appropriate processes of engagement.”

Well, that sounds fine, doesn’t it? No big changes, just ensuring the law is understood and acted on appropriately.

Silly old Penis News, over reacting and needlessly terrifying their readership yet again.

Yes, but unfortunately people googling will just see the over the top headline (which is very long for a newspaper article) to add to all the others saying they are changing the EA - rather than the real topic which is reform of the GRA!

Expect another round of articles in the MSM about how poor young trans people are suffering nightmares and terrors because Government ministers are just making statements of fact!

That's almost word for word the FAQs the GEO has put together.

My step daughter has been on blockers then on testosterone since 16/17. I don't understand this under 18 discussion. It's happening well under 18.

They are talking specifically about the birth certificate changes, MrsK.

The bit that applies to consent to medical intervention is ‘Gillick Competency’ which is what Keira Bell’s judicial review is looming at - it’s possible to government might want to get in front of the courts, as the same thing about under 18s not making irreversible decisions has been mentioned by both Truss and Badenoch (JR currently delayed due to coronavirus).

I think this is part of what not necessarily the GRA review but what some people are trying to raise about the affirmative approach of GIDs.

So not just about no surgery before 18 but maybe no drugs because it isn't definite that in later age taking those drugs when under 18 could lead to complications.

But legally changing gender whether under the current GRA guidelines of the ones trans activists want of self id, should not happen before 18.

She already has a new passport and provisional licence with male on it. How can that be right?

It’s bonkers.

The DVLA just want a free deed poll for the name change and will do the sex marker change with no evidence at all and passport office just want a deed poll and a letter from a doctor saying the sex marker change is likely to be permanent - despite up to 80% of children and adolescents with a cross sex identity desisting/detransitioning.

The passport letter doesn’t even have to be from a listed gender specialist (the handful of U.K. doctors who can actually diagnose gender dysphoria/gender incongruence/transsexualism) any GMC registered doctor can do it (and occasionally a letter from GenderGP/the Webberleys gets accepted - despite them being suspended from practising in the U.K. and relocating to Spain).

It's ridiculous.
How can a 17 year old girl really be a gay man?
We are through the looking glass.

Does anyone even read penis news any more apart from us?

I mean it's shit.

EA but trans activists want people to think they are having their right under mined.

People’s rights are being undermined but not the people TRAs mean, and they don’t want people to know it.

She already has a new passport and provisional licence with male on it. How can that be right?

This is alarming. If arrested, would she placed in a cell with males? Placed on a men’s hospital ward? How can proper safeguarding practice be observed when her ID does not accurately record her sex?
