Blush lingerie. "We mean every."

I think this sums it up pretty well.

"Behold: an advertisement:

I find it interesting because it’ssoin your face, soperverse (not perverted, mind, perverse), so nyah nyah. Saying “we mean every” about aconspicuouslymale male, with beard and hirsute chest and legs, decked out in dainty catch me-fuck me laydeez underwear. They’re not saying it about a man seriously trying to “dress as” a woman or to look like a woman or to convince anyone he’s a woman, they’re saying it about an unmistakable man with a “Fuck you, bitch” look on his face, dressed and posed like a prostitute.

It’s hard to unpick all the levels here. There’s the “you WILL agree that this is a woman” level, but there’s also the “haha obviously this is not a woman but we get to force you to say it is” levelandthe “if you don’t agree that he’s a woman he’ll kick you in the cunt, you cunt” level. There’s the “I will cut you” face coupled with the passivity of the clothes – it jars and it’s meant to jar and the whole point of the jarring is to taunt and threaten and insult and bully women.

And it is, apparently, from a company that makes “lingerie” – i.e. sexualized underwear for women.

There is also the level of “this is what makes someone a woman: wearing chase me-fuck me underwear and adopting a fuck me pose.” That’s all there is to being a woman: sexy underwear and passivity. It’ssodeterminative of being a woman that the hostile threatening male stare is overruled by the stockings.

There’s also the level of “women can’t possibly do this, women can’t not shave and not pluck and not paint and then pose in sexy underwear with hairy legs and a ‘fuck you’ stare, but men can” level. Women have to scrape their bodies clean of every trace of hair, even between their legs, and then draw lines where their eyebrows used to be, but men can just pull the stockings up over the wiry black hairs and then dare us to say a word."

Hoppinggreen Mon 29-Jun-20 11:05:10

I don’t even know where to start with that

Hoppinggreen Mon 29-Jun-20 11:06:15

Sums it up though
Men - stick something lacy on and you have miraculously changed sex!

ScrimpshawTheSecond Mon 29-Jun-20 11:12:11

What is the actual point in a bra if you don't have breasts? Won't that just keep riding up and be really uncomfortable?

Smallsteps88 Mon 29-Jun-20 11:14:25

I think it’s a real own goal tbh.

They’ve paid a fortune to hi light the absurdity of the “anyone who says they’re a woman is a woman” mantra. Lots of of people who consider themselves inclusive and supportive of trans rights will look at this and say “wait, what? No, that’s clearly a man. How could anyone think that’s a woman?” It will peak trans many.

teawamutu Mon 29-Jun-20 11:15:52

Grim. Never heard of them, won't be buying from them.

wildcherries Mon 29-Jun-20 11:16:31

Spectacular own goal, agreed.

KaronAVyrus Mon 29-Jun-20 11:17:54

Surely this is a joke?

Collidascope Mon 29-Jun-20 11:22:04

Surely this is a joke?

I wondered that, but at the bottom it mentions "proudly welcoming Berlin Pride Weeks." Plus I've seen other similar things I assumed were parody and they weren't...

How big is the sexy lingerie for men market?

Personally if I buy lingerie to look/feel sexy in, I don’t want to be reminded of a man wearing the same lingerie. So I wouldn’t buy that lingerie. I’m guessing a lot of women would feel the same so that’s a lot of their potential market gone right there. Are they counting on there being enough men to fill the gap?

Fairineouf Mon 29-Jun-20 11:30:33

They obviously have a new range aimed at men but have jumped on the woke bandwagon because they know a controversial advert gets noticed by the press and the brand will get talked about with lots of free advertising as it's discussed.

Most TW think they 'pass' and ordinary man/woman in the street thinks the mantra TWAW means that too - born in the wrong body, desperately trying to fit in. This shows something entirely different. Personally I think it'll just add more sunlight on the debate.

Woodlandtree Mon 29-Jun-20 11:32:08

Many will view this simplistically as ‘that’s not a woman’ and will feel the company is making a joke of self ID - as already said ‘own goal’!

Melroses Mon 29-Jun-20 11:36:05

I remember reading a guardian article about a new company that was producing sexy lacy underwear for men. My naive mind harkened back to the pre-victorian era of men in lacy collars etc.

Intrigued by the concept of men in lace boxers grin I foolishly followed the link to find the same old black suspenders and bras etc....................

It's always the same.

uglyswan Mon 29-Jun-20 11:38:26

The campaign is real, but it's also from 2017...

JaneJeffer Mon 29-Jun-20 11:49:19

If men want to dress in horrible uncomfortable underwear let them. They can have the high heels as well.

SingingSands Mon 29-Jun-20 12:01:54

I think I'd find this upsetting if I was a TW too. If I had spent years cultivating my appearance, becoming more feminine and hoping to be accepted as a TW, then this would throw me right back to square one.

Panfriedscallops Mon 29-Jun-20 12:40:54

I don't normally comment on this issue but I can't help but shake my head and wonder what is going on!

Is this an undercover episode of the apprentice..... if that lingerie company wanted to appeal to a particular demographic and alienate all the women who shave and pluck and highly maintain their bodies, good luck mate, nice business move........ smh
..... just read this is from 2017 are they still in business ?

Highperbolay Mon 29-Jun-20 12:55:30

I saw this on Twitter yesterday and assumed it was a joke?

Panfriedscallops Mon 29-Jun-20 13:12:46

Just checked, someone should inform their woke dept. There's been a violation.

Ereshkigalangcleg Mon 29-Jun-20 13:22:50

It is Emperor's New Clothes level self owning. Or Emperor's new basque.

TwoTribes Mon 29-Jun-20 13:37:44

That's a peak trans advert if ever I saw one. They should put them everywhere to show the public that this is exactly what Stonewall means when they say transwomen are women.

TheABC Mon 29-Jun-20 13:43:56

I took one look and wondered if it were for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Honestly, if men want to ruin their posture in high heels and stockings, feel free!

Wonder when they'll start making women's knickers with baggy fronts?

I wouldn't mind betting that day is coming, if it isn't here already.

MumofBees Mon 29-Jun-20 13:58:52

Why do you care?

Is being a woman or a man wearing a certain kind of underwear? No.

Why are you so terrified of difference?

Stop letting anyone else define who you are. Stop trying to define who anyone else is. Easy.

This thread is ridiculous.
