... and if so how would that be achieved?

Yes

... unlikely as far too many people have staked their reputations on in being a valid concept

It will need a generational change

Yes it should be repealed with those already with GRC already able to call themselves what they like etc, but not allowed in women’s sex protected spaces. There is no such thing as living as a woman whether or not you have cosmetic treatments or hormones. Only women are able to live as women. The rest is dressing up.

Maybe sometime in the future people will realise that gender roles are oppressive for everyone. Changing gender only makes sense with fairly strict roles.

There was a really good thread about this on Twitter earlier that made some humane, thoughtful suggestions for supporting trans people’s rights without undermining sex as a protected characteristic. The relevant posts are about 3/4 of the way down this thread: mobile.twitter.com/Grace_Speaker/status/1272891976946462722

No. That doesn’t address sex dysphoria.

Yes, repeal the GRA. Falsifying legal documents is more usually recognised as fraud.

I'm afraid it needs something far wider than that.

Universities need to be purged of queer politics which is what started the whole "choice" agenda - that's nearly 40 years of grooming to be undone. Seline Todd @ WPUK meeting

Next we would need to clear out all the trans activist cells in the media who are pumping out daily the trans message.

And of course the political parties.

We know that the general public dont buy the arguement that you can change sex, but those who control the social agenda are totally in the grip of the trans activists.

Well the Tories are in for 5 years. It's the best opportunity there is going to be.

I have lots of problems with it including the utter reductive sexist nonsense about 'living as a woman' which casts womanhood as a set of stereotypes. And the changing of a factual historical document.

Once the latest proposals go through, I wonder if any of the women's organisations would run with this?

At the same time it would be worth changing the equality act to prevent discrimination on the grounds of gendered expression (in place of the gender reassignment clause which even covers something who is thinking about transitioning but hasn't done anything about it).

Yes. The reasons for it are now completely obsolete.

It's unutterably sexist. I can't believe that it was ever thought of as a rational response to anything. Falsifying your birth records so you can make out you're the opposite sex?

How profound can the homophobia and sexism have been for anyone to think it was a reasonable alternative to same sex marriage?

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 17/06/2020 00:48

Yes. It’s pointless now that same sex marriage exists and it conflicts with too many other aspects of safeguarding and legislation.

If people suffer from extreme hatred of parts of their body they should have appropriate mental health support.

And yes, the GRA should be repealed. It's an outdated, sexist, homophobic piece of legislation.

Yes it should be.
Nobody else gets to change their birth certificate to something patently untrue and outside of reality.
My birth certificate has my fathers occupation on it. Why? And i cant change that.
The nonsense about arduous expensive proccess, lots of things take time and money the most obvious one being a driving licence.
I couldn't just identify as being able to drive, even though i could, i spent thousands of pounds and had 4 tests.
Its a bad law that should never have been introduced. I'll back any campaign to repeal the gra.

Barracker · 17/06/2020 01:56

Yes it should be repealed.
It's a legally sanctioned lie and it requires the full force of threats to compel truthful citizens to go along with it.

It is the law that redefined all females from what we are; female humans with a myriad of personalities, into a myriad of mixed sex humans possessed with what the government described as a 'female psyche'.

It's the law that changed women from female humans into a female state of mind, and that's what the law has us at still today.

It has to go.

It's the law that UNrecognised the lot of us.
And I won't rest until the law stops pretending the primary characteristic of my sex is our 'psyche'.

Does this mean there are actual terven MMA fighters?

If so, do you think they’d like to be mates with us? Are they allowed to drink Gin?

Can you imagine a dinner party with JK Rowling, Martina Navratilova, Alison Moyet and Ronda Rousey?

I’m confused about Alison
Moyet - she is a patron of Diversity Role Models, the charity who are apparently working with Asda?

Diversity Role Models have clearly been pretty sneaky - I’m sure whatever she signed up for didn’t involve 6 year olds performing sex acts.

Has anyone drawn her attention to yesterday’s discovery?
