I haven't seen this posted on any of the other JKR threads, but I may have missed it. It's a very good piece.

Oh wow. Brilliant piece. Hugely tempted to share it all over my social media as I do feel the need to nail my colours to the mast on this one...but do I really want to start a massive fight in full view of everyone I know?!

@Minty82 me too. I've just seen a friend posted about Fuck JKRowling. She's bi and a vocal member of the LGBTQ+ community. I just want to talk to her about it but I know it will end up in a bunfight and I will be the bigot.

Perhaps you could just post "yeah , fuck all females , they don't matter "

Argh. That’s so difficult. There are people I don’t want to lose, in whose eyes I’d probably be forever written off. But it’s so colossally important!

Yep- I had to stop myself commenting on a friends post about Daniel Radcliffe this morning .

I have a 19yo gay DS who commented to me this morning "JK Rowling just needs to stop talking".

I didn't have the time to get into it with him so let it slide for now. But I really want to have a grown up conversation with him about these things without falling out and me being labelled a transphobe.

I shared this on my FB. No reaction yet. That makes me sad, I'm hoping a lot of people are just too scared to agree.

He's going to have to move out and start looking after himself, playparkrage. Because if he thinks JKR needs to stop talking, he's thinking the same thing about you — and he needs to learn some respect.

Reading that has reminded me that
Here I may sound like an old-fashioned hack, but I do remember a time when 'news' meant more than 'things some people are saying
could say 'news meant more than 'things some people are saying' IN THE WEST.
I doubt her many millions of followers in India and Japan and HK etc are really into this non debate.

There are a lot of gay men who are standing up to the TRAs - heroes such as Fred Sergeant (who actually was at Stonewall, I think?)

Could you show him those men as role models?

The LGB alliance would be a good starting point for him, perhaps?

Maybe you could just direct him to the long and shameful history of men trying to silence women?

Why, grafittiartist? Being silent and avoiding upsetting people is what got us into this messing the first place. Why not say you don't agree? Why not quote JKR and ask what is wrong with what she said. A lot of people haven't even read what she wrote and are piling on her nevertheless.

Support JKR by taking this up and running with it. There are a load of people who don't really believe all the nonsense but are just waiting for someone else to give them permission to say so.

Ds1 who is 21 agrees with JKR and I’m fairly positive that the younger two would agree as well If they read it

But they are convinced im working myself up over nothing and ds2 said he couldn’t understand why I’m so liberal...apart from this

And the annoying thing is that im completely on the live and let live side!

Its the language around women and reporting of crimes etc that I’m annoyed about! And people being generally stupid...

I don’t do twitter or Facebook and i only stalk the children on instagram and i should probably keep it that way

For the women on here whose kids disagree and 'don't understand' why you're so angry about it, go on strike.

No cooking
No cleaning
No food shopping
No tidying
etc etc

Let's see if they have a bit more respect for women then.

I dont even know what I would do if my son said anything like that to me. But by christ the whole bloody street would hear me roar.
If he says that about one woman, he means all women should shut up.

I am starting to think "sod it" anyway!

Thanks for that link RoyalCorgi. It says what I think only much better. I have been getting increasingly irritated by the coverage of this. The news reporting highlights what she she said with no mention at all of the violent and offensive replies she has received.
