www.gaystarnews.com/article/trans-people-are-preparing-to-flee-uk-after-government-threatens-new-bathroom-law/

"She said: ‘As a trans person I no longer feel safe. And the reason I don’t feel safe is not the random on-street stuff.

‘There has always been an undertone of violence directed at me and trans people generally.

‘But at least there has been a sense that the government understood and was happy to go along with broadly accepted rights that have been won in this country and that are accepted elsewhere. Now I’ve lost faith the government will defend us.’

She has started to plan a move, so she is not ‘caught on the hop’. In particular, she is looking at whether she’d need asylum seeker status to live in New Zealand."

Haven't clicked on the link, but I mean, why would you even announce it?

My eyes have rolled so much they are at risk of falling out...
I wonder if they are taking their knitting with them?

There appears to be a mass exodus:

'She told GSN: ‘I’m a six foot three trans person so I am quite a visible target for verbal and physical abuse.

‘People try to trip you up or give you a shove. I’ve had rocks thrown at me and been punched. Three times in the last year, someone has threatened me with a knife. It got so bad that I bought a stab vest but I still don’t feel safe.’

The 54 year old is thinking of moving next year. Partly she wants a fresh start but she adds: ‘I don’t want to have to face violence and threats as often as I do.’"

But the UK has a really low rate of trans people being murdered they are in fact the safest demographic here.

So effectively they would rather be in more danger seeking validation of toilets in other countries?

GrinGrinGrinGrinthat is hilarious how does Jane think Jane will qualify as an asylum seeker!

What's the right toilet!?? There should be women toilets for women and trans women, women only toilets, trans toilet's, men's only toilets and trans men's and men's toilets?? Then everyone's happy?? Take your pick??

Off you trot then.

On the flip side, being pelted with stones, threatened with a knife etc. is pretty shocking.

Oh dear. Bye then Jane.

I bet that violence is coming from men not GC feminists. I support Jane in condemning toxic masculinity.

I do hope the NZ media invite Fae on to talk about what it's like to be a woman.

On a general point, it's no secret that knife crime is on the increase, that impacts all, not just trans people.

So hasn't actually fled, in other words. Behold my surprise.

Will JF support women who condemn violent porn? Or does JF only dislike male violence when it's directed towards JF?

I agree, abuse of transpeople is not on.

However, I admit I am struggling to see Fae as a vulnerable, at risk person.

I suspect violence is only to be condemned if your the right sort of woman.

Um, it's not about your height, it's because you advocate for extreme pornography and making it legal to lower the age of the participants.

... and objecting to that is not 'abuse'.

Perhaps a quick check of the Kiwi laws on extreme porn will help to determine if it's an ideal destination.

I'm unconvinced that being physically massive makes one more likely to be a target than would be the case if one were less physically imposing.

Will read the link in a sec

This, and I see it's been mentioned

'People try to trip you up or give you a shove. I’ve had rocks thrown at me and been punched. Three times in the last year, someone has threatened me with a knife. It got so bad that I bought a stab vest but I still don’t feel safe.’

Is it GC women doing this?

Also I find the juxtaposition of this, given fae's activity around loosening the laws around extreme porn, a bit disharmonious.

This is the UK definition of extreme porn:

'a desire to protect those who participate in the creation of sexual material containing violence, cruelty or degradation, who may be the victim of crime in the making of the material, whether or not they notionally or genuinely consent to take part'

And

'Pornographic ("of such a nature that it must reasonably be assumed to have been produced solely or principally for the purpose of sexual arousal"), and
Grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character, and
Portrays in an explicit and realistic way any of the following:
An act which threatens a person's life, or
An act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person's anus, breasts or genitals, or
An act which involves sexual interference with a human corpse (necrophilia), or
A person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal (whether dead or alive) (bestiality), or
An act which involves the non-consensual penetration of a person's vagina, anus or mouth by another with the other person's penis or part of the other person’s body or anything else (rape or assault by penetration) and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that the persons or animals were real.'

Fae believes this law goes to far in limiting freedom of speech/ expression, and is altogether too harsh.

Obviously no one should be abused or have violence meted out to them. However harassment is a regular experience for girls and women from a pretty young age. Sexual assault and rape are hardly rare. I've been threatened by random men more than once. Memorable a man once threw rocks at me on a holiday once. Etc etc.

Girls and women are being increasingly exposed to sexual acts by men who don't get consent first- slapping, hair pulling, spitting, throttling and 'accidentally' having a dick trying to get up their bum when the consent was to vaginal sex. The connection of this with the increased normalisation of these acts in mainstream porn is clearly linked (and I really don't understand those who deny this!).

It just feels that Fae is:

Pro violence of an extreme nature when it's related to sex
Utterly devoid of a knowledge or interest in the harassment and violence that is bread and butter for women and girls in the UK

Why not tackle men on this? Rather than Fae and their ilk continually attacking women who disagree with them?

The other point is that, I have been told more than once, NZ has a very unreconstcted macho male culture. Why do they think things will be better there?

Also, NZ has closed its borders in response to Corona. Their decisive action on this has been on the news all the time. Why does Fae think they will let Fae in?

Under what hounds does Fae believe NZ will take Far as an asylum seeker???
