I ought to clarify that I'm not arguing for schools to remain open during a pandemic, just that as a general point it's really important that girls are able to attend school because it reduces the risk of things like FGM and forced marriage.

On the whole, yes, but FGM stands for 'female genital mutilation', so I did wonder why she refers to this as 'forced genital mutilation' in the first paragraph (but it is the Guardian).
