Trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed” the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says

Couldn't resist posting this quote from a PN article. As usual the total purple prose listing the anguish of trans peope because of a factual statement by Liz Truss is beyond parody.

" ... This week, Truss was slammed for comments about the “protection of single-sex spaces for women and girls”, which she said she would say more about when she publishes the government’s plans for GRA reform this summer.

Single-sex spaces are protected under the Equality Act 2010, and the Tories were clear when they set out plans for GRA reform in 2018 that they were “not proposing any amendments to the Equality Act 2010″.

This potential meddling with trans people’s ability to use the single-sex spaces that correspond with their gender identity has meant the trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed”, the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says. ... "

So effectively they are saying they know that the right to single sex services means that trans do not qualify.

Although as we know so many organisation have given in to trans activism to claim that it does.

So it seems a straight forward statement by Liz Truss plus the ongoing challenges from Baroness Nicholson on the way the EA has been misrepresented has got them all rattled.

But sad to say (though no surprise) Labour is saying the EA should be changed to make gender identity the same as sex:

" ... And Labour’s shadow minister for women and equalities, Marsha de Cordova, told PinkNews that the government “must protect the rights of the trans community in its response to its consultation on the Gender Recognition Act”.

“It is important that this government does not interfere with protections under the Equality Act, which ensure that trans people are not wrongfully excluded from single-sex spaces,” Cordova said. ... "

I am so glad that labour did not get in this General Election. Pains me to say that but but we would have had it if they had. The Tory seem eminently sensible and I am hoping that some good laws are passed to protect women and girls and our rights to single sex spaces under the equalities act.

Its sad, but the Labour statement also shows that they have been part of deliberately misrepresenting what the EA means re single sex services.

If they are terrified, they need to take it up with Stonewall. Stonewall are responsible for misrepresenting the law and making fully grown males think they can insist on accessing places where women undressing and/or vulnerable.

Well, Keir Starmer either knows the detail of the fucking mental Gender Recognition Act 2004, and the detail of the Equality Act 2010, or he doesn't.

I guess we'll see.

Always with the catastrophising.

It's not a 'basic right' to enter spaces intended for the opposite sex.

I guess 'but sex and gender are different' is so two years ago now.

It's a nonsense to admit that single sex spaces are protected under the EqA but then insist it's a right to access them on the basis of 'gender identity'.

Had transgender advocates not disseminated fraudulent copies of the EA2010, that replaced the protected characteristic sex with gender identity, and by doing caused Councils and businesses to discriminate against women and girls it is likely that they could continue the pretense that males unfettered access to women and girls in various states of undress is their "basic right".

But the fraud was exposed and people in authority now know to ask exactly what basic rights are you talking about, gentlemen?

Must be quite refreshing to be "terrified" of something other than the death of hundreds of thousands of people and the imminent demise of civilisation though?

We are being constantly attacked and vilified by the media, politicians and members of transphobic hate groups

I'd love to know the name of these "hate groups". Do you think they mean "Nazis R us" type of thing? Oh, no, they actually mean groups of women who want to discuss women's rights, who aren't in fact "transphobic hate groups" at all. And aren't actually attacking or vilifying anyone.

Their smearing of women ("terf" "hate groups" etc) basically making up mythical evil enemies who are out to get them, by trans activists has very been affective at stirring up hatred of feminists, that's for sure. I think some people are waking up to that. (Not labour party though, sadly.)

"Dear Liz" sounds friendly doesn't it? Dear Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss is more formal. Has no one ever told them how to write a proper letter? I suppose it just sounds like a good campaign name. They can mobiles all they like. Facts is facts.

It must be a terrible disappointment to learn that Stonewall has led you a merry dance, misinterpreting the EA to the point where you believed you had rights that you don't.

I'm sure Dear Liz can set them straight.

Perhaps we need a 'thank you, Liz' campaign? Just to reaffirm support for her correct interpretation of the law.

Since when has use of a single sex space that does not correspond with your own sex a basic right? 😂

Here was me thinking basic rights were protections against things like the government falsely imprisoning and torturing you, or passing laws that deny certain people housing or jobs, or the police failing to investigate crimes or mob violence against certain people, or even instigating such acts themselves.

Sounds like some people need to read more international news about genuine problems that people face.

“It is important that this government does not interfere with protections under the Equality Act, which ensure that trans people are not wrongfully excluded from single-sex spaces,” Cordova said. ... "

Except there is no such thing in the Equality Act. Thank fuck that Labour lost the election. It's a real shame that we have no decent opposition to the government, but I hope Labour continue to stay out of power if this is the calibre of their politicians.

From the Dear Liz letter.

Word counts:

Scared: 3
Stress (as noun): 2
Worry: 1
Fear: 3
Persecuted: 1
Anxiety: 1
Terrified: 1
Concerned: 1

So very much the language of fear and oppression, then we come to the demands and find both include this:

“If so what are these restrictions, and, how are you planning on enforcing these restrictions?”

As a law abiding person, I might ask what the restrictions were going to be, and on finding out, I might object, but to ask about enforcement methods is like setting out to find a way to avoid compliance before the requirements have even been set out.

This has distinct echoes of “are you going to examine genitals?” and “you can’t stop me doing what I want!”. It is very much at odds with the tone of the rest of the letter.

The writer is not, in my opinion, remotely afraid on any genuine level. They are expressing that as a tool so when they are thwarted, they can give themselves permission to unleash their rage.

When have these people ever acknowledged that women can be scared, stressed, have anxiety, etc? They know women feel like this about male people in female spaces because we have expressed it. But it's like we have never spoken.
