Mumsnet threads come very high up in search engine results. I think it might be a kindness to JK, if you were to ask MN to amend the thread title?

From the penis news article:

The tweet read: “This is Alex Drummond, an adult human male who claims to be a lesbian (yes, he’s kept his dangling bits and skipped the hormones)...

Drummond, who previously said she is in a long-term committed relationship, has made no such claims.

Penis news says Drummond hasn't claimed to be a lesbian, and to back up their story, they link to an interview where where Drummond says:

I identify as lesbian as I'm female and attracted to women

Ouch. Penis news is on a roll today. 🤣

Much as I hate (hate hate) to defend P*k news I read the no such claims as referring to “believes that real lesbians who aren’t into penises are transphobic and should be excluded from the lesbian community”

(I also think a change to the thread title would be in order- I suggest “JK being awesome again” Wink)

Nick Duffy (from article in OP)

"JK Rowling has been criticised for appearing to like anti-transgender tweets targeting a trans woman who has faced years of bullying online.

The message repeatedly misgendered and spread false claims about Alex Drummond, a psychotherapist and photographer who has become a point of fixation for transphobic activists online because she has a beard.

The tweet read: “This is Alex Drummond, an adult human male who claims to be a lesbian (yes, he’s kept his dangling bits and skipped the hormones) and believes that real lesbians who aren’t into penises are transphobic and should be excluded from the lesbian community. Yeah, this guy.”

Drummond, who previously said she is in a long-term committed relationship, has made no such claims."
(picture from video linked below)

Magdalen Berns discussed Drummond's claims to be 'widening the bandwith of how to be a woman" in her 2016 YouTube video.
(Alex Drummond is/was a member of Stonewall's influential Trans Equality Advisory Committee & speaks in schools about trans ideology)

'What Kind Of Fools Do Transgender UK and Stonewall Take Us For?'

I love how Zpink News say we asked JK Rowling for comment and she declined. Of course she declined the publication's is not even a member of the news association or whatever it is called. My kids school newspaper could ring her up and she could decline as she us within her rights. They distort everything.

Yes, that's also whatI understood them to be saying. I have no idea if it's accurate or not.

He claims to be a lesbian and according to the tweet believes some other stuff. The article doesn't mention his beliefs, just says he has made 'no such claims', even though he has.

Picking fights with celebrities is high octane click bait, and Prick News has become quite desperate.

The message repeatedly misgendered and spread false claims about Alex Drummond,

The problem with being precise as to which bit Pink News thinks is a false claim, is that their entire article is nonsense.

If you argue that Alex Drummond is a woman and you expect others to believe you, you're so far removed from reality that a statement like "false claims" is just irrelevant.

Correct. It is UK-based but not IPSO-regulated (Independent Press Standards Organisation). Pink News is a blog/vanity project, and that's fine - but it is completely free from any journalistic standards. Although not immune to the UK's laws on libel and slander.

I have no idea why they bother policing JKR and her "likes". It's not as if she has anything to lose. It's only likely to harden her resolve.

Fans also noted that Rowling's account liked another message insisting that "humans come in two, and only two, immutable sexes"

How very dare she!

I don’t think they’ll be policing her likes any more. I think they might have brought her to a decision. Apologies for the image colour. My iPad’s not happy this morning.

They go after her because they (rightly) sense she's a threat to them. She's not only hugely popular and a household name but is also obviously a compassionate, intelligent and thoughtful person.
She simply doesn't fit the US religious far right conspiracy theory that they're trying to peddle.
Better for them to to try shut her down or smear her as a transphobe, because when she does speak, a lot of people will suddenly realise just how badly things have gone wrong in the trans movement.

In her latest book as Robert Galbraith - Lethal White - she has a female character who identifies as pan sexual but about whom the comment is made that she has only ever been seen with a man. I think JK is gently taking the piss there.

One of the reasons I love her books so much is that she has a great sense of humour. It's there in HP and it's there in the Galbraith books.

The "middle-aged moment" is clearly ageist and probably sexist too. Middle-aged women terrify some because we've got nothing to lose. We don't care if they don't approve of us in fact we quite like it. It demonstrates we have minds of our own and don't court nor care about getting male approval. That's why they are scared of us; scared of JK; scared of mumsnet!

That wording reads as passive aggressive, and maybe it is a bit, but the actual reason they print it is that offering JK comment is a (partial?) defence to a defamation claim.

Absolutely. I'm so much bolshier now than I ever was. I know what I think and why I think it. I like facts.

JKR can keep on going. Good on her.
