She was tortured by her husband, her cell mate was tortured by the prison for trying to get them to help her as she was dying.

I don't see anything to admire about the US and I don't want any part of their system here.

That's a sad tale. Rest in peace Susan.

Poor woman-failed by both men in her life. Her son also did time for rape of a 13yr old neighbour.

That is so sad. The article says she had also developed dementia. Just for argument’s sake, even we accept she did kill her husband, a life sentence without parole is disproportionate. She had vaginal and rectal prolapses but that was clearly not evidence enough of the abuse. She spent 30 years in prison until she died Angry

This terribly sad story gets worse. Saw this thread on Twitter earlier about how prison staff treated Susan's cell mate for calling for help whilst she was dying. Warning it's pretty horrendous. What on earth has gone so wrong with our species?

This is so sad. Such an incredibly unjust sentence. I hope she's at peace now. Sad

What a devastatingly awful awful life she had.

I hope her cell-mate doesn't become unwell and gets out of there soon.
