Should Boris Johnson have included DV workers in list of key workers?

Someone mentioned this to me earlier this evening and wasn't quite sure what they were talking about.

But it is Labour has written asking the PM to consider this.

“We know that domestic violence increases during holiday periods, so self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic will only add additional stress to that scenario and there will be an increase in need for survivors to access refuges.”

One of the rare occasions Butler has had anything sensible to say.

It's a pity however she didn't proof read that letter before issuing it. It is littered with typos and grammatical errors.

They are. It's been clarified that DV workers are included in "charity and support workers"

Well according to women's aid on Twitter anyway.

I have to say I would have assumed these workers fell within the general category of charity, support and social workers.

The list of key workers is very broad. I have a colleague who is wondering just how elastic " key financial services" is and whether her husband can fit in it.

My understanding is that "key workers" are largely "self id'ing". Nurses, police, lorry drivers , infrastructure workers etc. clearly are without question but "financial services"? What does that mean?

Not about key workers but statement from 4 Women's Aid federations in the UK about supporting women during virus crisis

Has list of support numbers, web links at the end: www.womensaid.org.uk/vawg-sector-statement-on-covid-19/

Also list of DV support services for women from BAME communities www.imkaan.org.uk/get-help

KickBishop - I've tracked down the tweet online- it doesn't clarify anything.

If that's the best the person who is DV Commissioner designate can do, not sure her job will serve much purpose.

Sad
