On Lorraine this morning.

How lovely that an all-men group can get together like this without fear of being harassed by TRAs. Apparently there are lots of male-only groups like this.

Just sayin'.

I saw a programme about a carpentry group for men who had been bereaved and felt lost. It was mainly older men but yes no females tried to identify into it!

Middle-aged women don't tend to identify as men so there's no-one claiming they're missing out.

I have a (trans)man friend who attends one of these groups, I'm impressed that you can identify the attendees chromosomes through the television.

I would not be surprised if we see more transmen trying to access some of these places.
Right now there are not so many exclusive male groups as there used to be, many have already been opened up to women. And many transmen are relatively young so the groups they want to access would reflect that. But I can easily imagine that in a university setting this may be happening already where there are men's groups. I think many men might just put up with it in that setting.

I thought, having just seen another thread, that this would be about dudes identifying as dogs, so I'm rather relieved.

I think the point here is not so much that trans men are or are not trying to join but rather that if they did and were refused TRAs wouldn't have much to say about it.

It's not about identifying chromosomes. We just use our eyes to see them.

But yeah, the point is not to get onto the attempted "gotcha" TRA talking points; it's to show how women don't need or want to muscle in on men's spaces in the aggressive, bullying and sometimes violent way men do in women's spaces.

Well, aside from the odd gay sauna issue, I should imagine that fewer men would object to transmen attending men's groups than the other way round because men haven't faced a lifetime of oppression at the hands of women. They still have male privilege and on the whole probably don't give two hoots.

The fact that men don't generally mind transmen in their spaces is testament to the fact that biological males don't feel the same threat from women that women do from biological men. Thus transwomen couldn't possibly understand what a biological woman experiences on encountering a transwoman in what she thought was a women-only space.
