I'm watching this. VD repeating about the age.

Lies about detransition rate. Was asked about the experimental nature of the drugs and totally blew it. They frankly sound like cowboys.

I'd hoped VD would probe further about the detransition rate. I'm sure I've read somewhere that Tavistock admitted they don't have accurate numbers due to patients dropping off/losing contact with the clinic?

Victoria didn't look impressed!

July 2018 The Victoria Derbyshire Show produced an extremely biased report supporting puberty blockers as 'just a pause' & promoting Mermaids Charity.

Transgender children: Buying time by delaying puberty
By Jim Reed
Reporter, Victoria Derbyshire programme
"More than 300 transgender children a year are now starting on a course of puberty-blocking drugs, figures seen by the Victoria Derbyshire programme show.

One of the transgender children we have been following for four years has now begun her treatment, which gives youngsters time to decide if they want to live as a man or a woman.

"I'm happy I've been given [the drugs] because now I know that I won't grow facial hair. I just don't want a beard - I'm a girl," says 11-year-old Jessica.

We have been following Jessica and her friend, Lily, as they have transitioned to live as girls at home and at primary school.

Jessica, now preparing for the move up to secondary in September, has recently started taking puberty-blocking injections once a month. (continues)

The injections stop sex hormones from being produced and delay the development of breasts, deepening of the voice, or body hair. The physical effects are reversible, although doctors say the longer-term psychological impact is unknown.

The treatment, available to under-16s since 2011, is meant to delay the onset of puberty to give children more time to decide if they want to live as a man or woman.

Jessica's mother and stepfather both said they felt "relieved" for their daughter who was particularly worried about developing facial hair.

"I don't know whether to be happy or sad," said mum Ella.

"I know it's not the end and the effects are reversible. But for me it reaffirmed that this is the end of [my son] James."

"The most important thing to us is the happiness of our child, forcing them to try and be something they're not is not an option. We just want her to be happy, that's all."

BBC will need to be scrutinised in light of the evidence put forward in the Judicial Review.

Derbyshire can be as wide eyed in shock about the quackery as much as she wants now.

Won't stop me pointing out her complicity in headtilting unquestioningly as she promoted this exact bullshit for the past few years.

Tavistock GIDS haven't tracked after 18 years

Michael Biggs
The abstract describing the baseline characteristics of the children in the experiment concluded: “Assessment of growth, bone health and psychological outcomes will be important to assess the medium and long-term safety and effectiveness of early intervention”
(Gunn et al. 2015b: A198, my emphasis). This aspiration was never implemented. GIDS recently acknowledged that it loses track of its patients after they turn 18, blaming “the frequent change in nominal and legal identity, including NHS number in those referred on to
adult services”—“to date they have not been able to be followed up”
(Butler et al. 2018:635).

So the actions of TRAs to lobby for medical records & NHS numbers to be changed makes following up on the wellbeing of child patients harder.
How is it possible that an NHS paediatric department had no responsibility to follow up post 18 years when using an experimental treatment program?

Exactly. She can go down in history with her colleagues at the BBC who facilitated Saville.

Victoria Derbyshire and Jeremy Vine have both failed to cover this issue professionally.

Vine gets key details wrong every single time whereas VD cannot hide her bias - I wonder if she has a friend with a trans child and doesn't want to upset them because she thinks challenging the affirmation process is her challenging their suitability as carers

And having watched it now, I'm bloody hopping mad. Carmichael waffling aimlessly without being properly challenged, a shocked and befuddled Derbyshire clearly aware of an alarm bell ringing in her head but unable to formulate a question that cuts through Carmichael's disingenuous verbiage.

Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful.

She's been closely involved with families who have young children that have been identified as transgender.

At the start of the July 2018 program Victoria Debyshire is with some of the children. Its very evident that she has a personal relationship.

Thankyou Ro
Yes I remember wide eyed Victoria Derbyshire covering transing school children, fully expecting her to say something about the dangers.
It didn't happen, but here at MN women were being silenced for speaking out.

Victoria Derbyshire may well have friends who have trans children.

She is a disgrace.

Jeremy Vine is also a disgrace, he has daughters ffs.
Every time I see Paris Lees Twitter with that pinned tweet of a boy, as if it's all a bit edgy to encourage the transing of healthy youth. I get angry.

There's no such thing as a trans child.

BBC has uncritical promotion by Victoria Derbyshire that children might be born in the wrong body, their families celebrated for affirming that they are transgender & reassured that an experimental medical intervention is just a 'pause'.

ITV do the same on This Morning.

How many concerned/vulnerable parents have been influenced by such irresponsible ill-informed bias?

Victoria Derbyshire's bias towards trans rights activists extends beyond Mermaids & children.

I remember the way VD treated a woman on the show who was forced to escape to Women's Refuge after horrific male violence & was describing how she would be affected by a male being accomodated.

Victoria Derbyshire

Transgender children (FULL) documentary - BBC News
75,558 views•7 Apr 2015

"Jessica, who's 8, and Lily, who's 6 , explain what it's like to feel they've been born in the wrong body. In an incredibly rare interview, Victoria Derbyshire speaks to two young transgender children, to get an insight into what their lives are like and what help and support is available for other children in their position. Victoria Derbyshire has been speaking to two of the youngest transgender children in the UK – with permission from their parents and with the support of the children's schools. Medical experts were also consulted"

Victoria Derbyshire, the parents & the 'medical experts' should have taken guidance from child development experts (such as Katie Alcock) about well-established understandings of how young children come to understand about sex.
