I have seen this on a friend's social media page. We are both mid-forties. Am I being unreasonable to be fuming at the message I think it portrays? In my opinion it is saying 'be subservient to your partner' and 'don't give him any grief or question him over anything' yet all men have to do is tell us we're pretty and we'll put up with anything? Happy to be told I am wrong!

What do you think?

Sexist regressive stereotypes. FWIW, as a woman, I expect everything from the ‘how to keep a man’ list from a partner, and 2.5 of the ‘how to keep a woman’ list, as bare minimums in a relationship.
If you ‘treat me like a princess’ you’ll be single pretty quick! Fortunately DP treats me like the individual human that I am, rather than a Disney character.

Sexist nonsense.

Obviously drawn and composed by a 13 year-old. Or someone suffering from arrested development

Yes, judging by the illustration, the intended audience is the younger generation. Do they believe this rubbish? What was my friend thinking in posting this? The mind boggles.

Question it. Something along the lines of,

'So, to summarise, women should be subservient to their partners and not give him any grief or question him over anything yet all men have to do is tell us we're pretty and we'll put up with anything?'

See what the response is.

I honestly would laugh. What is she thinking? I’d enjoy seeing the responses thoughGrin

Don't worry about it op, it's a meme, and a crap one at that. Don't reply no need, it's just bollox click bait.

To add to both lists:

Start as you don't mean to go on.

According to the list, the woman is meant to love the man and not cheat, yet the same isn't required of him. Hmm That's nice to know.

If you're in the mood to get into a debate and potentially be deleted off the friend list, challenge her on it.
It won't change her mind, but younger women might see the exchange between you two and hopefully know they don't have to blindly swallow such sexist bullshit.

Yes that stood out most to me too, yet the woman is expected to "give him space"
Riiiight.... cynically "in case he wants a bit on the side" !

Oh please comment to your friend OP and say how bad it is!

Good grief that is vile. Is it meant to be a joke? It reminds me of the agony aunts in early 1960’s women’s magazines, earnestly advising women with cheating abusive husbands that they should stand by them and honour their marriage vows!
OP, for goodness’ sake challenge it - otherwise your silence may be taken for assent.

I knew it'd be horribly sexist from the first lines. Relationships where one partner is described as a man and the other as a girl? Unequal from the start.

I missed that. You are right FearoftheDuck

Actually I have a problem with the word 'keep' too. Partners are not possessions.

I gave my man lots of space- I gave him the deposit to move out of my house and into a flat so I didn’t have to be in a relationship with him any more.

Highly recommend.

I was about to say what Frock said, that in a loving, equal relationship the list should be the same for both.

She’s Canadian, isn’t she? (Hockey shirt with maple leaf in illustration)
How fitting, given how female-hating current Canadian policies are.

I hate all this type of Facebook pish and now just unfollow people who post them.

I might possibly comment something like wow, just a bit sexist! But probably wouldn’t bother

Going by the Maple Leafs jersey whoever drew that was Canadian. Things are doing so well over there in terms of tackling sexism, super impressed.
