''The Labour leadership candidate is in favour of self-identification for trans people but won’t reform the current law on same-sex spaces.''

So her shiny new well thought out position is;

  • A man needs a GRC & revised birth certificate to access women only spaces, and
  • Any man can get a GRC by self ID without any gatekeeping.

What could possibly go wrong?

I think you've nailed it....

It concerns me that many will read these headlines and think ‘oh, what are people complaining about, we still get to keep women’s toilets, changing rooms, hospital wards, prisons, smear tests etc etc.’

But that’s not true, is it? The single sex exemptions appear to be meaningless because they’re not used. Or certainly not in the cases that your average person on the street would expect them to be used for.

That's exactly why they wrote it like that.

If she's tricking us on this issue, what else is she trying to trick us on?

The actual word 'sex' now means something other than sex in Labour policy. It doesn't exist at birth. It is a modern, western construct. It is a bad thing.

However people should be able to pick a sex, and a gender, even though sex classification is a bad thing.

Then people can rail against the sex classification they have been given, even though sex doesn't exist and is a construct.

Meanwhile prisons are underfunded shitholes and RLB couldn't give a fuck. But they will remain single sex spaces for people who assign themselves a sex classification. Which is a bad thing.

I think I got that.

RLB is going to identify as a man for a week so that she can claim male privilege and be taken seriously. Good luck to her. Perhaps she will pass for a real leader; or will just aim for the easy stuff like the Momentum tea conference to build confidence. Later she will wear sideburns and a magnum tache to the Trades Union Conference.

So brave, Rebecca. Let us help you in your journey to total political irrelevance.

Is anyone putting out the counter narrative listing the places that should be using exemptions but aren’t?

Untrustworthy.

This is the exact same con Labour perpetrated with its election manifesto, isn’t it? It didn’t work then (not for more than 24 hours, anyway) so why does she think we’re going to be fooled now?

For me, this is part and parcel of the wider reason why Labour has bombed so spectacularly - they don’t hide the fact that they think that the electorate is completely thick. I’m pretty sure the Tories have just about the same level of respect for the public, but at least they don’t make it so blatantly obvious.

Indeed. Obviously 'clarify' is another one of those words which can mean anything these days.

Clarification is a social construct and needs to be queered.

That's the first time in a long time the word "queered" has not made me want to throw the radio/TV/computer/smart-doodah at the wall! Grin

And no man will need a grc to use women only spaces, since
a) no one is allowed to ask to see one (though prisons may be an exception?)
And
b) men using women only spaces will be so common no woman would challenge them (we are largely already there).

Queerification:

Definition: The ability to define a person/statement/ideology/policy as non immutable and in sufficient flux so as to always be in vogue, woke and righteousness.

Sorry it's not in the OED - I just made it upGrin
