They've got the rainbow cakes. They've got the balloons. They have the unicorns and mermaids. But we're more fun..

Okay fellow bitches hear me out. I was moaning of absurdity of the world as it is today and how so much corporate money is powering Big Trans messages in the workplace, in schools, even in f-ing Starbucks. But then it came to me. What is the point of that idiot mermaid tail cookie (Mermaids are Maids?). What does the money actually do that it isn't actually doing? Is it changing any more minds? Youtube is full of Detrans videos. Comments to aggressively pro-trans comments on Twitter are getting more and more spicy backlash. People are feeling fed up. As the demands for obedience and the stakes by the unicorn crowd grow ever higher, more and more formerly woke people are actually waking up and joining us on the wild side. We may not get the rainbow cake and the Barbies. But we also don't have to suck up to the party princesses any more either. We just get to be free.

Being a caring adult isn’t always fun. Unlike Durga I have just two hands for everything that needs to be done. Life experience means j know about consequences. Sugar in cookies and cakes is bad for people and helium filled balloons use up more than one of our planet’s scarce resources. I worry that the trans people u care about will not get support because the Pippa Bunce’s have eroded support for them.

Maybe autocorrect? Did you write witches, OP?

For future reference, viper is the correct terminology for Mumsnetters.

‘Bitches’ is such a sexist term. Maybe ‘bastards’ is more inclusive?

I think the OP is in the USA?

Yes, I'd argue that the lavish funding that they receive is harming others in the LGB community. MRHTAKE had some excellent threads on how the overwhelming majority of donations and grants to LGBTQ++ goes to the T and the L (in particular) receives negligible support.

Surely 'hello fuckers' is the preferred gender neutral greeting.

It's similar to immigration. Many people, at least in the UK, had / have genuine concerns about immigration and how this might affect the overall culture and cohesion of traditional communities. Too much change, too quickly unsettles many people and leads them to worry about pressures on housing, jobs etc. It's a human trait and not unique to any ethnic group or skin colour.

Instead of calmly addressing these issues and fostering understanding, dispelling myths etc, a lot of the liberal metropolitan types and the elites simply ignored the issue for years or stuck to a simplistic mantra of immigration always being a positive thing. The #NoDebate phenomenon was alive and well even then, although it might not have been termed that way. Any question or criticism of immigration then and now means you are a dyed in the wool racist who hates anyone who isn't white.

So the resentment and hostility builds up and unscrupulous political parties and politicians spring up seeking to stoke and harvest such anger and resentment for their own personal gain. Inevitably, acceptance and tolerance of immigrants diminishes and people project their anger and frustration on those who are caught in the crossfire.

The steamrolling of gender identity by the metropolitan liberals and elite onto society will only backfire.... And backfire very badly.
Telling people they are bigoted and transphobic for not accepting that TWAW, that any man can call himself a woman and women have no right to privacy and decency, their daughters should be forced to share their private spaces with boys and men. Any debate or question is viewed as heretical and worthy of being hounded out of your job. It's actually worse than the immigration debate.
Hostility towards trans people WILL increase and the resentment will spill over onto LGB people and feminists as the average person will lump all these groups together.

I agree, NonnyMouse. Labour were extremely successful in labelling as racist anyone raising any concerns at all about immigration. People did anything to avoid the toxic 'racist' label. This attitude led to Rochdale, Rotherham, Telford, Oxford, Manchester - and ultimately to Brexit, in my view.

Nowadays people are desperate to avoid being labelled as 'transphobic' but as Graham Linehan pointed out on Newsnight, everything is transphobic now.

Yes, ladies, here in the U.S., bitches is fairly lighthearted, while calling someone a cunt will get you a duel to the death. I forget it's the opposite in the UK!! Sorry!

Nah, calling someone cis is always rude.

What does the money actually do that it isn't actually doing?

Paying salaries: Lobying government, 'training' the police, sending solicitors letters to schools which don't do as they are told, funding 'studies' which 'prove' the points that mermaids/stonewall want, speaking at conferences, organising SM pile ons, targeting specific NHS staff with nice jollies or complaints depending on how well they co-operate.

These organisations don't want to persuade the general public. They want to persuade those with power and they want everyone else to STF up. Primarily though, they want to draw large salaries and enjoy nice lunches, for doing the above.

I think Nonnymouse and ScapaFlo have made excellent points here. Part of the not-fun-ness of the Mermaids (now I have got it in my head to call them Mermaids Are Maids) is how you can't think complex or ambivalent thoughts. You aren't allowed to weigh different aspects of an issue. A normal person could think that overall, immigration is beneficial, although of course it does change certain things and some of those changes could have negative repercussions. There are few choices in life that don't have some costs as well as some benefits. And different individuals may be affected by social changes more than others, for good or ill. Making a topic completely taboo and calling people bigots can be most unhelpful. And it doesn't make people feel particularly warmhearted toward the people who call them nasty names.

Cuz Nobody cares about the transmanfish.
But on another note, this is yet another reason why our team is so much more fun: Fish sex sucks. I mean, they don't even do it together. She does a driveby, drops eggs, he does a driveby, drops sperm. We, on the other hand, know what we want when we have sex. We know who we are and have delicious and specific lust and knowledge about our own desires and that of our partners. None of this, "Who could possibly guess what you got going on in your pants but as long as I can validate you I'll be happy." OH. PLEASE. We live somewhere in the general vicinity of reality and take our pleasures like actual human beings.
