Be ready to film it when the inevitable bullying and abuse starts.

I want to go, is it wise to bring my DD10?

What a great event! Smile

I personally wouldn't bring my kids, firstly because they are boys and secondly because some TAs really hate me so I don't go anywhere public with my kids. However, if I had girls and was unknown to them, I would bring them. I think it's highly unlikely that there will be physical violence and it's a huge park and there will be police present.

Gah, if I weren't already involved in IWD events I'd like to go along and sing with my fellow vipers.

Trust in me?

Aren't the London parks closed today because of the weather?

Report
ArranUpsideDown · 09/02/2020 14:15

It's on March 8 (IWD) - not today.

OMG sorry - losing it here Blush

Brill! I’m home alone that weekend so no dog sitter, so wasn’t going to be able to go to any IWD things.... but speakers corner is perfect!

I have 2 'tickets'. @jeaux90 (sorry for tagging) ** I was thinking of bringing along a daughter (who is a little older) but was worrying about the same thing. Worried some of the content might not be age-appropriate more than anything.

Report
jeaux90 · 09/02/2020 21:30

Midclegs I didn't think about the content, I was more concerned about protestors and a lack of security but Venice is probably right about police presence.

WPUK meetings always have their own security so that's never concerned me.

So bloody annoying we have to even think about it.

Tbh, I can't make it due to work, but if anything, the fear that I feel about being targeted for exercising my right to gather and speak about my rights in a democratic society, in the place which is emblematic of free speech, makes me very tempted to plead with my manager to let me have the day off.

midclegs · 09/02/2020 23:55

Jeaux90 happy to meet up if you wanted to. I think my DD is at a very impressionable age - heading women like Posie speak will be the right sort of impression!

Just giving this event a little bump as it won't be long until 8th March & don't think I'm actually working it this year! Just got to figure out the getting to London bit, no more flooding, storms & track repairs would be good!

Do people reckon it'd be ok to bring a 2-year-old? I could do with bringing DS to London to meet his new cousin so could combine with the meeting. I'm a bit apprehensive though after what happened to Maria Sad

I'm a robust individual but my toddler isn't!

I really wanted to go to this but my mum is coming to stay that weekend now so not going to be able to. Gutted.

Would your Mum be up for a spot of London sightseeing? Speakers Corner is an interesting spot to hang out at on any Sunday. You could just happen to wander past there on your walking tour of the sights :-)
