Good morning,

Just as the title suggests, I’m after a book on the body, puberty etc for my daughter, soon to be 10. Has anyone found a really top notch book? I may be wanting the moon-factually accurate obviously, written with an understanding of women’s position in society, a challenging and intelligent book which also informs and empowers!

I’ve seen a few, and I did buy her a simple one when she was 7, but the reviews aren’t all that comprehensive, so it’s hard to tell if the books on the market strike the right tone. I want one which firmly backs up her body her rules etc.

We also communicate about pretty much everything, but I really want her to have a brilliant go-to book if she doesn’t feel like sharing with me all the time and so on.

She’s an avid, confident reader I would say. Likes a challenge.

Any pointers very gratefully received. Thanks.

Can I ask what you bought for 7? I'm working my way round to discussing this with my 8yo as she has started developing breast already but I don't want to freak her out.

I don't think you're asing for the moon btw. I would love to see what others suggest too.

I like the Robie Harris ones - I've not bought for three or four years though, so they may have been wokified

'What's Happening to my Body?' Lynda Madaras.

Great.. got it for my then 10 year old, turns out, just in time.

You can get it on Amazon.

For ages 10 and up... pre teens and teens. It was recommended on here.

There is one for girls, one for boys. It is very good.

@OhGodWhatTheHellNow, it was ‘The care and keeping of you’ by Valorie Schaefer. It’s ok, but not particularly in depth.

I’ll have a look at the Harris and Madaras ones, thanks.
