Im only only chapter two.
I love how well researched it is. It's study upon study upon evidence upon study knitted beautifully together with insightful and even funny comments. It's sort of gratifying and wonderful but also shocking and firey!

I read it before Christmas, but I've talked my bookclub into reading it this year. With Handmaid's Tale in March as well, we should be raving feminists by June.

I loved it, but at the same time I felt really upset that women are still being ignored, because I remember some of the basic ideas in the book were already being discussed in the 1980's. Back when universities still had Women's Studies departments and research was being done to show how women and girls were felt to be "dominating the discussion" if they spoke more than a third of the time in a mixed group.

It's like the sex pay gap, the law was changed decades ago, but so little progress has been made that it'll take another 200 years to close the gap at the current rate of change.

As other posters have said I have to ration my reading to short bursts as it gives me the rage otherwise.
My poor DH gets nervous whenever I pick it up because within five minutes I will be saying "Listen to this, you won't believe this!" and variations thereof.

Yes - it makes me angry each time there's another moment of revelation and I have to put it down for a bit, so I am slow to read it though.

I've just finished it. Like others I had to read it in chunks. It made me sad and angry. The section on medicine and healthcare frightened me.

It should be compulsory reading in every educational system.

It's a great book.

I'd also recommend giving it to men to read. Lots of feminist writing seems to get the back up of otherwise reasonable men, but not this as the arguments are so clearly, rationally and reasonably presented .

I read it in December. Made me militant and shouty in a similar way to ‘The Politics of Breastfeeding’ did. I get stopping and ranting at DH (an ardent feminist) every few paragraphs.

I’m pressing it on younger sisters and talking about it to lots of people. Had some great conversations sparked by it over the festive period! It is very well researched with lots of references, I’m now spotting my own examples frequently.

I’ve only just got it from the library so haven’t read much ( Sweden and snow ploughs really). Interestingly my DD7 has to write a diary from the viewpoint of a Viking or Anglo Saxon ( famous diarists they Viking’s ) and as soon as I read the fact about the female Viking warrior I was on the case... one female warrior Viking diary coming up!!

I've had it reserved at the library since October... Still waiting! There's 30 copies available in the area so someone must be reading it! I don't get on well with audio books & I'm trying to be eco-friendly/frugal & get books from the library instead of buying them but I'm getting really impatient! Must be my turn soon, right?!

My husband bought this for me for Christmas as I’d mentioned it a few times, am looking forward to reading it very soon. He and my teenage son have also said they would like to read it, so I hope they will.

Ohhhh there was no queue for it at my library but when I tried to reserve a copy of the Lady in Waiting book I was 70th in the queue! 70th!!!!

It's a fabulous, frustrating, infuriating read but it's given me great ammo for dealing with my 17 year old male students who think that the works is either absolutely equal or, worse, rolled in favour of women!!! I hope her next piece is related to racism - her research is awesome and I could also do with some help there sometimes. Teenagers are great but they are very black and white in how they see the world and can often have opinions that are to the right of Attila the Hun!!! Anything that makes them see the grey areas is helpful.

I read it. Its brilliant but rage inducing. I persuaded DS (15) to give it a go and DH is now reading it. Have promised DS £10 for every friend, male or female he can persuade to read it from cover to cover! Am hoping teenagers of both sexes can see the discrimination inherent in womens' lives.

I LOVE it, but have to pace myself as reading about the myriad indignities and barriers to full and fulfilling lives women are experiencing is not good for my blood pressure!
