Lib Dems actively deterring GC women

Today I emailed the Lib Dems expressing an interest in joining their party.

I stated no one should receive discrimination or abuse for their transgender status but explained that I am GC and I asked if there was room for GC women in the party.

I received the following response:
Thank you for getting in touch. Whilst we appreciate your interest in joining, you should be aware that the Liberal Democrats are a trans inclusive party, and we have made it clear that we fully behind trans communities. As liberals we champion everyone’s right to live the life they want. By the sounds of your email it appears that your values are not aligned with ours so we are probably not the right the party for you.

I am flabbergasted. I didn't expect that I would have to believe that humans can change biological sex in order to be a member of the Lib Dems.

I am so disappointed. I was going to vote for them in the GE (passionate Remainer) but I cannot if this is their response.

There is no one to vote for. I am lost.

Why are the Diversity Team replying to membership queries?

I suspect other sections of the party won't like that they're telling people they're not welcome!

It’s so frustrating that they repeat woke mantras but seem unable to think through the issues.

Bloody hell.

At no point did you state you were aiming to upset discriminate or actively exclude trans people.

So they expect everyone to seriously believe that people can change sex and nothing more will do?

Blaze I was knee deep in the website and there was a link to ask about joining so I just emailed this address.

I wonder what I'd get if I emailed the main membership / funding address?

I genuinely cannot believe they would turn away paying members before the GE for this.

I'd love the press to pick this up. I wonder if all their existing members realise this?

As liberals we champion everyone’s right to live the life they want.

Except women wanting to retain protections for our sex. Except for women in sports. Except ....(add your own)

Jesus Christ. I'm appalled and fascinated in equal measures that at this time in particular someone would be so fucking stupid frank as to state that in print.

I've been following the thread about whether we should use sex based rights as our core criteria when voting next month. I've felt torn on the issue myself and still do as this is so so important.

Whilst I ponder however there is something about the sheer arrogance of that letter that makes me disregard them entirely now. I would bloody love a canvasser to knock on my door so I can discuss with him/her. And still not vote for them.

Given this:

Trans Widows, the Liberal Democrats and the Spousal "Veto"

I'm not surprised. However it seems breathtakingly arrogant that they think they can be so picky considering how few MP's they have.

Talk about shooting oneself in the foot ! So if I as a woman who believes the Referendum result should be respected , and believes that women are born not worn - am unwelcome ?

I now live in a seat where it will be between the conservatives and the lib dems. I have never voted in my life for the Tories but this time, holding my nose, I will. I cannot allow in a really anti women party like the lib dems.

Oops ! Hope that makes the press. This will be enough to turn the Lib Dem protest voters off in my family. They live in one of the marginal Lib Dem seats and are very much gender critical.

Have you replied? You really should. From that email it appears that they think that you can change biological sex.

What is a "Trans Community"?

Is it like Poundbury?

Joisan am inclined to agree. Never thought in a million years I'd consider voting for Conservatives yet here we are. Waiting to hear back from my local Lib Dem candidate after emailing yesterday with WPUK questions.

Parties’ apparent inability to acknowledge that sometimes different groups of people have interests that are in conflict and come up with a considered policy response suggests poor policy making practice.

“we champion everyone’s right to live the life they want.”

Impossible to give everyone what they want, on many issues! I and many other girls and women (and men) want single sex facilities, services and sports. That is in direct conflict with some people want, who want anyone to be able to access/participate in previously single sex girls and womens’ facilities, services and sports.

“By the sounds of your email it appears that your values are not aligned with ours”

What values? Giving everyone what they want? Prioritising some trans people and mens’ wants over others’ wants?

I've forwarded it to the main membership email address asking if they don't want my money or vote, and I've also asked the Labour Party and the Tories too. Envy

I think at this stage I will vote for anyone who can define 'woman' without including men and using insulting stereotypes. Sad

Do tell us who this party are, if you find them!

By the sound of that email, it would appear that the values which the Liberal Democrats align with, are not compatible with the values of women - adult human females.
Such a pity they consider gender theory more important than the views of 50% of the population.

All the parties are shit on this though, right?

I care very much about the risks to single sex facilities, services etc, but not more than other political matters such as Brexit and austerity.

I had a very dismissive email from Ed Davey stating that he absolutely believed TWAW and shutting down the discussion when I asked him. I'm in a close Tory/Lib Dem battle area and have always voted Lib Dem as a tactical vote. I don't know what to do now. The vote is now Brexit or Women.
