I didn't think it was possible for political discourse to get more divisive and extreme in a civilized society, but Frances Carmel Hoole, who apparently standing for election, tweeted a meme of herself threatening Joanna Cherry with a spray bottle of bleach and the term T*RF.

She has deleted it and is now complaining about the sound condemnation she is receiving on Twitter. I need to get a hammock for my face to help with the continual dropping of my jaw.

Awful how she is trying to victim blame, insinuating Joanna is causing the pile on.

What a weird and nasty thing to tweet.

Unlikely to get her elected Confused

This is very serious. Can you report it to the Labour Party even if your not a member/ voter?

If not, who should I report it to?

"Now it's your turn to come out against abuse, too!" But she hasn't been abusive!

The damage control attempt is to blur that this is a threat and feign innocence. Total bullshit. You gleefully post a picture of yourself with chemicals pointed at the woman you are using a slur about, clearly indicating that you are using the bleach chemicals as an attack to get rid of the woman.

Outrageous.

The woman's deranged!

Is anyone in charge of Scottish Labour anymore? She needs to be deselected now and replaced.

What a stupid, dangerous arsehole! Yet another dim woman fighting dirty on behalf of men who hate her.

Yep. Completely unacceptable. A Jo Cox foundation link too, fgs. No excuses.

And then to blame Joanna Cherry for basically deserving it and scold her for having the wrong views! wtf. There are enough female MPs leaving politics because of the threats and abuse they get. How can you think that’s amazingly progressive so long as it’s against one of the Bad Women?

“Well we only threaten to burn you witches because you consort with Beelzebub, we’re basically FORCED to by your evil witchy ways.”
“We don’t actually do th-“
“QUIET WITCH, respect what you are being told by advocacy groups.”

I think Cherry's seat is safe but this is indeed disgusting. Hopefully Labour will be wiped out in Scotland.

So this is what Frances Carmel Hoole, who sounds like a complete dipstick, has to say about her behaviour:

You're not defending women's rights unless you defend trans rights. Please respect what you are being told by advocacy groups

Why? What if the advocacy groups are not interested in women’s rights (cf stonewall)

Report
MissLawls · 01/11/2019 15:54

Well PIE was an advocacy group wasn't it...

Perhaps this charming candidate would be better suited to being a women's officer? That seems to be where Labour usually put their misogynists.

Report
TemporaryPermanent · 01/11/2019 16:00

But what if two different advocacy groups say two different things? Like on every issue of any substance in the world ever?

MockersthefeMANist · 01/11/2019 16:00

"Respect what you are told?"

I'd rather go with what Winifred Holtby had Sarah Newton say in South Riding':

Don’t let me catch any of you at any time loving anything without asking questions. Question everything-even what I’m saying now. Especially, perhaps, what I say. Question every one in authority; and see that you get sensible answers to your questions. Then, if the answers are sensible, obey the orders without protest.

Question your government’s policy, question the arms race, question the Kingsport slums, and the economies over feeding school children, and the rule that makes women have to renounce their jobs on marriage, and why the derelict areas still are derelict.

This is a great country, and we are proud of it, and it means much that is most lovable. But questioning does not mean the end of loving, and loving does not mean the abnegation of intelligence. Vow as much love to your country as you like; serve to the death if that is necessary… .But, I implore you, do not forget to question. Lead on, girls.

Great points above - Jo Cox, women leaving politics because of threats and harrassment.

I am extremely disappointed in the level of debate on gender and sexuality on these threads.
Absolutely zero sense of self-awareness. Zero.

I bet she lives on twitter and only speaks to wokesters in RL. That kind of bubble would certainly lull you into thinking approving of threats against female MPs was just a bit of a larf.

Outside the cesspit, real world people and politics are much less forgiving. These people really don't have any real world connections, do they?
