South Park episode - Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina

I guess it's not directly related to feminism, but I came across an old South Park episode called "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina" and it's a hilarious (but insightful) pisstake on the whole trans issue. Has anyone else watched it?

What I found quite impressive is that the episode was released in 2005 yet it accurately covered numerous angles of trans ideology - with trans racial and trans species absurdities thrown in to prove a point.

Just a warning if you are thinking of watching it - there are some scenes of real life surgery briefly shown at the start of the episode so you might want to bear that in mind if you're squeamish like me. You can cover your eyes and listen to the dialogue for that bit if it helps. :)

Reminds me of episode 13 of series 4 of Futurama 'Bend Her' A Male robot has a sex change to compete in the female category of the Olympics. He wins every event & annoys women with his grotesque interpretation of what they should be ...

Made in 2003, would never be approved now!

Oh I hadn't heard of that one... I shall have to look it up. :)

Haven't seen, the episode, OP, but the title "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina" actually made me laugh out loud! So thanks for that! Grin

There was an episode in which a young female South Parker has breast enlargement surgery. It really nailed the misogyny and felt quite feminist, iirc. Long time ago, mind, so it might not stand revisiting.

And Monty Pythons transgender skit: “it’s symbolic of his struggle against reality.”

Another one that would probably not be approved now.

I'll try to find a clip of it hipsterfun.
I like it when comedy shows or sketches manage to convey quite nuanced and complex critique under the guise of simple mockery.

Never heard of that one Wonderbag. It's crazy how anything and everything is transphobic these days.

The South Park writers are quite clever from what I’ve seen. I’ll give this a watch!

Also watch the one where Cartman decides he is a girl.

There is an episode from a few seasons back where they address the toilet issue in schools. It was the first time I had heard the term 'cis'. I'm pretty sure it was from the season where PC Principle is introduced.
Season 19 is worth a watch - it nails wokeness and one episode is even called ' stunning and brave'.

Never heard of that one Wonderbag

The Monty Python one is from Life of Brian.

I'm not generally much of a Python fan but that film is well worth a watch, very astute, and upon its release was very controversial for being 'anti-Christian'. It's the one from which the immortal line 'he's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy' hails and also gifted us 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'.

Life of Brian isn’t actually anti Christian. It was certainly intended to be so - Cleese and co went to the Caribbean with a pile of New Testaments, planning to write a piss take of Jesus.
But they couldn’t find anything to argue with in anything He said or did. His wisdom, humility, self sacrifice and compassion were impossible to mock.
So in desperation they decided to mock religious cult followers instead. Hence the scenes of the crowds pursuing Brian, worshipping his sandal and gourd etc.
It’s made very clear right at the start of the film that Brian is not Christ, when the Wise Men turn up at the wrong stable, then snatch back their presents and head off to the correct one.
I’m a Christian myself, but I find parts of the film funny. The only bit I find utterly repugnant is the parody of crucifixion. The barbaric torture of any human is not suitable grounds for comedy, in my opinion.

I know, hence my use of quotation marks. But it none the less caused controversy at the time and was considered such in some quarters.

Guess they haven't been shying away from these topics! I don't see much outrage against them.

I don't remember seeing that. Shock
Will need to watch it again. There's probably a lot that went over my head the first time around.

use to love southpark and unashamedly enjoyed watching the film with my kids- the one with the song "unclefucker"- some things are too good not to expose kids to!! (just don't sing it outside this house, ok?)
so i am bloody delighted to hear that they haven't submitted to any woke pressure- unlike family guy which became all sympathetic to the struggle of quagmire's AGP father- so disappointing.
yep, the southpark creators have always come across as intelligent human beings- good contributions in "bowling for columbine". but where michael moore is prob fawning all over TRAs and allies- it's great to hear that the southpark crew have integrity intact.

Dilbert strip is hilarious... And also worrying because I'm sure that's what some employers would actually try to do to show they have dealt with sexism and pay gap issues. :(

I was looking for a new name and had forgotten all about that episode. Thanks, OP. That episode sums up how I feel about the absolute nonsense that those with an agenda are brainwashing our children with.

That episode of Futurerama was on a couple of days ago. I only caught the last minute or so and was like - what! are they talking about trans robots in the Olympics? Amazed they showed it.

The Life of Brian bit was a bloke called Stan who came out as a cross-dresser and wanted to be known as Loretta.
